If you need to prepare a large portion, you can boil a whole head of cabbage. If you need to feed your family and so that the cabbage rolls don’t sit in the refrigerator for a long time and don’t get boring, then you can boil a few leaves in boiling water. Raw leaves from the head of cabbage must be carefully removed by cutting with a knife near the stalk.

For the filling you will need boiled rice; you can cook it in a slow cooker in the “Pilaf” program or on the stove in a pan. The cereal is cooked for approximately 15 minutes. The minced meat must be made in advance from chicken meat; you can also add skin.

You will need a special grill in which to place the formed cabbage rolls. And be sure to pour water into the bowl itself so that steam is released during heating. These cabbage rolls with minced chicken and rice can be eaten as an independent dish, for example, for lunch. Convenient to take with you to work.

How to cook steamed chicken cabbage rolls in a slow cooker

Remove the required number of leaves from the head of cabbage. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Lower the leaves one by one and let stand for about 2-3 minutes. Place all the soft leaves in a pile on a board or plate, so they can still be steamed.

Boil rice until soft in salted water.


Place the rice in a fine sieve and rinse under water. Pour into a plate, add minced chicken, salt and black pepper. Stir until smooth.


Peel carrots and onions, rinse in water. Chop the carrot into strips and chop the onion finely. Add to filling, mix well.


Place 1-2 tbsp on a cabbage leaf. fillings. The hard white part of the leaf can be cut out.

Use a small head of cabbage to make the cabbage rolls small. If the cabbage is large, the leaves must be cut in half along the central vein before wrapping the minced meat in them.

Garlic is added to taste. It will not add pungency to the finished dish, but only the smell. But it is very specific after heat treatment, and even more so in combination with cabbage. Take this fact into account.

These cabbage rolls are really lazy. They can be prepared in just 20-30 minutes, thrown into the slow cooker and forgotten about them. And your assistant will signal when it’s time to go set the table for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • Meat – 500 gr.
  • Cabbage – 400 gr.
  • Carrots – 2 pcs.
  • White onions – 2 pcs.
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • White bread – 1/3 loaf
  • Sour cream – 50 gr.
  • Ketchup or tomato sauce – 50 gr.
  • Water – 100 ml.
  • Salt, spices - to taste.

If you want to steam lazy cabbage rolls, you won’t need sour cream and ketchup during the cooking process. You can make a sauce from them and pour it over the finished dish right in the plate.

Preparation

  1. We make minced meat from meat. Use a meat grinder with a large mesh.
  2. Finely chop the cabbage. If desired, you can grind it in a blender.
  3. Cut the onion into small cubes, grate the carrots on a fine grater. Fry until half cooked in vegetable oil.
  4. Break the bread into pieces and pour in milk to swell it.
  5. Combine the meat, fried vegetables, cabbage, egg and bread, previously squeezed out of the liquid, and knead well. Add salt and spices to taste. Lightly beat the stuffing for the cabbage rolls, so it will hold its shape better, and the finished dish will be juicier and more tender.
  6. We form balls from the minced meat and place them in the slow cooker.
  7. Combine sour cream, ketchup and water in a separate container. Season with salt and spices. If you like, you can add garlic.
  8. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls and set the multicooker to “Stew” for 1 hour. Close the lid and cook until the beep sounds.
  9. After the time has passed, do not rush to take out the finished dish. Let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes on heating.

Serve hot, pouring over the sauce in which the cabbage rolls were stewed. Additionally, put fresh herbs, stewed vegetables, and hot spices on the table.

If you want steamed lazy cabbage rolls, place the balls on a steamer rack and cook for 50-60 minutes in the “Steam” mode. The dish will be lighter, more dietary, but less rich in taste.

To prepare delicious cabbage rolls, use several types of meat for minced meat - pork, beef, chicken. Be sure to choose fatty pork, then the dish will be juicy, with a rich rich taste and a pleasant aftertaste.

The cabbage variety should not be tough. Young or medium-sized vegetables are best. If it’s winter, only with white heads of cabbage. These varieties are less fibrous and become soft when cooked.

It will not be so greasy, it will not take much time, but at the same time it will delight you with its juiciness and perfectly reveal the taste.

  • 1 kg cabbage;
  • 300 g beef;
  • 80 g rice;

  • 1 carrot;
  • 30 ml oil;
  • 1 onion.

Step-by-step recipe for classic steamed cabbage rolls

Since our cabbage rolls are classic, we can’t do without steamed cabbage. Place a saucepan of water on the fire and let it boil well. We take a knife and make deep cuts around the stalk. Place in boiling water and let it steam for a few minutes, we need soft leaves. Remove the cabbage, remove the top leaves and cool.

While the cabbage is steaming and cooling, you need to make minced meat. Boil the rice. Peel the onion and carrots and chop finely. Pour into oil and fry. We wash the beef and grind it through a meat grinder. Mix boiled rice with meat and vegetables. Salt to taste. You can add herbs or other seasonings to the filling.

You need to cut out the thick vein from the cooled cabbage leaves, then lay out the filling and roll up all the cabbage rolls into envelopes. We place it on the grill, you don’t have to grease it. You need to leave space between the cabbage rolls to allow steam to pass through.

Pour hot water into the steamer compartment; it is advisable to add some salt; you can add spices and herbs (laurel, peppercorns, garlic, herbs). We install the cabbage rolls and start cooking. On average they will cook for 35 minutes.

How to quickly steam cabbage rolls

Place the oil in a frying pan. Pour the chopped onion and carrot into it and lightly fry. Let cool.

Cut the cabbage into not very large strips, pour boiling water from the kettle and leave for ten minutes, then squeeze and transfer to a bowl. Add previously fried vegetables.

Now twist the meat if you are not using minced meat. Transfer to vegetables and add one large egg. Salt, maybe pepper. Mix thoroughly. Then we make large cutlets, slightly smaller than a fist. Place on a steamer tray.

We cook lazy cabbage rolls for half an hour after boiling water in the pan. While we are making the sauce: chop the herbs with garlic, mix with sour cream. Take out the cabbage rolls, place them on plates, and brush with sauce.

Rice is not added to this dish to save time. If you have boiled cereal at home or buckwheat (it’s also good), then you can add a little to the minced meat.

Option 3: Juicy and economical steamed cabbage rolls

This recipe is far from dietary, since the filling is prepared with the addition of lard. At the end we get a lot of juicy and satisfying cabbage rolls. The weight of the cabbage is not indicated, we just take a large head of cabbage so that we can wrap the filling in the leaves.

  • 500 g meat;
  • 200 g lard;
  • a glass of rice;
  • head of cabbage;
  • a couple of cloves of garlic;
  • salt pepper;
  • 2 spoons of sour cream;
  • spoon of ketchup;
  • a little oil;
  • a pair of onions;
  • 1 carrot.

How to cook

There is a lot of rice in this recipe, but don't let that scare you. We rinse it and let it cook, leaving it a little tough, and don’t let it get soggy. Pour into a sieve to cool. Steam and prepare the cabbage leaves.

We cut the onion into cubes and simply grate the carrots. Saute the vegetables a little in oil. We fall asleep together, guided by the transparency of the onion. Like rice, leave to cool.

We twist the meat and a good piece of lard; peritoneum with layers is also suitable. Add rice to them, add vegetables and a couple of tablespoons of sour cream, garlic, and a spoonful of ketchup. Mix everything well. If the filling is a little weak, it’s okay; the rice will swell more when cooked.

Place the minced meat on cabbage leaves, roll the cabbage rolls into an envelope and place in a steamer. Cook for approximately 35 minutes, starting from the water boiling. Don't forget to close the steamer tightly.

You don’t have to add ketchup to the filling, but tomato wonderfully emphasizes and enhances the taste of meat and rice, which is used in fairly large quantities.

Option 4: Steamed diet cabbage rolls

Steamed cabbage rolls are a wonderful dish for keeping your figure in order and even losing weight, but they need to be cooked correctly. Here's another lazy recipe that doesn't require steaming the cabbage leaves, which saves time.

Ingredients

  • 400 g chicken fillet;
  • 50 g brown rice;
  • 2 egg whites;
  • 400 g cabbage;
  • 1 carrot;
  • spices;
  • 1 tsp. tomato paste.

Step by step recipe

Cut the cabbage into small cubes or thin strips. Pour boiling water over, let it brew, then drain into a sieve or colander. If you don’t do this, the vegetable will bulge and you won’t get smooth and beautiful cabbage rolls.

While we set the brown rice to cook. It takes a little longer to cook than unpolished cereal. But you can soak it in advance. Drain the finished rice into a colander and let the water drain. If you need to cool quickly, you can rinse under the tap.

Twist or finely chop the chicken fillet. We do the same with carrots, after which we combine everything with rice and cabbage, add two raw proteins, salt, and add a spoonful of tomato paste. Mix the minced meat well and make cabbage rolls.

Since the cabbage rolls are not in sheets, you need to grease the steamer tray. Then we lay out the formed cutlets, set them in place, do not forget to pour water for steaming. Close and cook. Since fillet is used, 25 minutes is enough.

A turkey dish is prepared using the same principle; you can take rabbit or other dietary meat. It is imperative to remove the skin from the bird; it consists almost entirely of fat.

Option 5: Vegetarian steamed cabbage rolls

It is not necessary to cook cabbage rolls with meat. Without it, you also get a wonderful dish, especially if there are mushrooms. Here is the simplest vegetarian recipe. You can take any mushrooms, the amount of boiled product is indicated. If you have champignons, then simply fry them without pre-cooking, but take one and a half times more than indicated in the recipe.

  • 200 g boiled mushrooms;
  • 130 g rice;
  • 1 carrot;
  • 2 cloves of garlic;
  • 1 onion;
  • 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil;

How to cook

We take a small head of cabbage and send it to boil. Boil for a few minutes, take out the top leaves one by one. Then we throw the rest into hot water again and repeat. Cook the rice until soft, but do not overcook, watch and drain all the water in time.

We cut onions and carrots. Fry in oil for a couple of minutes. Chop the boiled mushrooms and add. We also cook with them for two minutes just to improve the taste. Cool all this, combine with cooked rice, mix, squeeze out the garlic, add salt.

Cut off the seals from the steamed cabbage leaves. We spread the mushroom filling with rice, roll up small envelopes. Place in a steamer. Cook for 20 minutes to half an hour until the cabbage is soft.

Place vegetarian cabbage rolls on plates, pour tomato sauce over them, serve with herbs, or sprinkle with nuts or fried sesame seeds.

Most recipes are developed for white cabbage leaves. But in exactly the same way you can cook cabbage rolls with Chinese cabbage, you don’t even need to steam it, just separate the leaves and pour boiling water from the kettle for a couple of minutes.
