How to assemble and decorate a cake in the shape of a bag.

As a prototype, I chose a real model from Gucci women's bags. Here she is.



But one handbag is boring... I need to complement the cake with feminine joys... I settled on lipstick, nail polish and a coral necklace...

In advance, I made blanks from mastic (I bought it): a cap from a bottle of nail polish and a lower part with a lipstick cap. I let the parts dry thoroughly.



Then, using rich red fondant (store-bought colored), I molded a lipstick ink stick and wrapped it in thinly rolled fondant of the main color.


I secured the part to the base (glued it with water). The lipstick is almost ready.


To give details clear contours, I use a regular plastic ruler. First, I make a rough blank of approximate shape and begin to press it with a ruler against the table surface from different sides until the desired outline is obtained. For example, a bottle of nail polish.



I layered the cakes with cream (I have natural cream+ unsweetened yogurt + powdered sugar) and pineapple pieces.




I let the cake sit overnight. I evened it out with Ganache cream.


For the coating I combined black and white: I tore and molded pieces of mastic several times.



Using a mesh and a rolling pin, I applied a print to the mastic that resembled the texture of snake skin.

I covered all sides of the bag separately, not reaching the top edge.


I covered the top part and the joints on the sides with two strips of mastic.



I rolled out a long strip of black mastic, cut it, applied “seams” with a toothpick, covered the very top of the bag: I made the connection at the back and “stitched the seam”, and made some excess on the sides, hanging down a little. Then I glued a narrow strip of mastic on top and pressed a texture on it with a knife, reminiscent of a zipper.



Using black mastic and using cutouts of lily petals, I made parts for attaching the handles, and applied “seams” along the edges. Folding up the top edge of the pieces, I threaded rings of mastic flagella. I glued 2 of these parts on the front top of the bag and 2 on the back.



I made 2 handles from black mastic: the part that is connected into a roll is rolled out thicker, and the edges are rolled out thinly. I threaded the ends of the handles into mastic rings and glued the handles themselves to the bag.

I painted the rings and zipper with silver kandurin. All connections were covered with thin black mastic flagella. I colored lipstick (silver kandurin, silver kandurin + black dye, silver kandurin + red dye), a bottle of nail polish (silver kandurin + black dye). I rolled out balls for the coral thread, made a “clasp” on the outer beads from gray mastic and painted these parts with silver kandurin.

On the handbag itself I wrote the name of the brand in silver kandurin, and on the bottle of nail polish the first letter of the name of the birthday girl.

The cake is ready.
