And not in a simple way, but in a double way, as schnitzels or zrazy are usually fried. It turns out something similar to who knows what, but very, very tasty. My husband immediately ate half a frying pan. And he asked if I would do it again. That's how we fell in love with tofu, from the first try. I'm aware that trying to categorize people by taste doesn't hold water, but I still suspect that people fall into two categories: those who are die-hard fans of soy tofu and those who are not. I've never tried tofu before. For a long time I stayed in the ranks of the latter, until one day I read in a nutritionist’s book that tofu is a mega-healthy food. And he so deliciously described the advantages of soy cheese that I finally bought it. I can’t articulate what the secret of tofu is. There is practically no taste as such. But this cheese fits so well into any dish. For example, it goes great in a vegetable salad instead of sprinkles - add salt, pour olive oil, sprinkle with oregano and basil - yummy! Tofu is also added to omelets, marinated and even baked into cheesecakes. But it seems to me that it’s better to prepare the tofu in a simpler way to start with.

Ingredients:

  • 400 g tofu,
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons flour,
  • 4 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 3 large pinches of salt
  • Spices to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying.

Cooking method

Cut the tofu into cubes. This is done very easily if you take the so-called firm tofu. It can also be soft, like cottage cheese. But it won't suit us.


We take three small containers. Pour flour into the first one, add salt and spices, mix. Place tofu cubes in flour and coat on all sides.


Pour the egg into the second container, beat it, add a little salt. Place tofu cubes coated in flour into the egg.


Pour breadcrumbs into the third container. Lift the tofu with a fork, place it in bread crumbs and sprinkle, turning on different sides. I took rye crackers, but this is completely optional. Wheat ones are also good.


Place in a frying pan where vegetable oil has already been heated. You can pour more to create something like deep frying. But I prefer less oil. Fry, stirring occasionally, until a crispy crust forms.


Place on a plate. Serve with rich sauce - soy, teriyaki, nut or Korean ketchup. The food turns out to be quite satisfying due to the high protein content, but it is not at all heavy.

Ingredients:

  • tofu – 500 g
  • vegetable oil for frying

For the sauce:

  • soy sauce – 50 ml
  • garlic – 2-3 cloves
  • cilantro – 2 sprigs
  • ground black pepper – 0.5 tsp.
  • ground red pepper – 0.5 tsp.
  • ground coriander – 0.5 tsp.
  • fresh cucumber – 1 pc.
  • lemon juice – 1 tsp.

How to fry breaded soy cheese tofu:

1. Pour prepared soy sauce, lemon juice into a bowl, season with black and red pepper, ground coriander, cilantro, garlic and finely chopped cucumber. Mix well and marinate the cheese for 5-10 minutes.

2. Cut the tofu into rectangular pieces. Salt and roll in flour. Fry the tofu in vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown.

  • 1 teaspoon of ginger.
  1. Initially, cut the tofu into medium pieces, pour in soy sauce (2 tablespoons), and leave to soak.
  2. Pour a mixture of oils into a frying pan, fry finely chopped garlic and ginger.
  3. Then take out these two components and throw them away.
