Cooking options

For most multicookers, to prepare semolina porridge according to my recipe (add all the ingredients, add milk and turn on the desired mode), the “Milk porridge” mode is suitable. But, for example, In the Panasonic multicooker, such porridge is prepared in the “Stew” mode.

If your multicooker has "Multi-cook" mode, you can cook porridge in this mode at a temperature of 90 ° C, cooking time – 20 minutes. You can also use the “Rice” mode to prepare semolina porridge.

Semolina is also prepared in a slow cooker in another, it seems to me, a little more troublesome way.: Boil the milk in the “Steam” mode for 10 minutes. The cereal is mixed with sugar and salt and poured into boiled milk, stirring so that lumps do not form. Keep the multicooker on for a few more minutes. And then turn on the “Heating” mode for 10 minutes. Oil is added to the prepared porridge.

There is a similar cooking method in the “Pasta” mode. To make porridge in this mode, you must first pour milk into the bowl, add butter and set the desired mode for 5 minutes. After the signal, add the porridge mixed with sugar, stir, press “Start” and cook until the end of the program.

Even though fashionable nutritionists say that porridge is quite high in calories, and the amount of nutrients in it is minimal, however, sometimes you can pamper yourself, and for thin children who do not gain the necessary weight, and people immediately after surgery, it is absolutely necessary!

Semolina is also ideal for those who suffer from stomach diseases such as ulcers or gastritis - it has an enveloping effect, softening cramps.

However, if you decide to prepare semolina porridge for children, it is best to give it from the age of one year (it contains a certain amount of gluten, which can cause food allergies). Set aside this recipe until children are of optimal age.

Step 1

Semolina takes up a lot of liquid. Therefore, if you like thin porridge, then it is better to take cereal and liquid in the following proportions: 1 part semolina, 7 or even 8 parts milk or water.

Our recipe uses both milk and water (in this version, the porridge can be safely offered to small children over one year old), but if you want the semolina porridge in the multicooker to be richer, then you can cook it only with milk, fortunately, the multicooker will not allow it to escape from the bowl .

By the way, it is best to cook with regular or high-fat milk, but in no case low-fat milk - this will only spoil the taste of the dish. So, put the semolina in a magic pot, as shown in the photo below.

On a note: one insignificant disadvantage of semolina is that it cannot be placed in a multicooker overnight and cooked with the “Delayed Start” or “Timer” program: it will swell too much, and the “Heating” mode, which very often turns on automatically, will continue to cook porridge, which is why you risk seeing a conglomerate of semolina in the multicooker bowl in the morning.

Interesting fact: What is semolina? Many people ask themselves this question. It's just ground wheat grains. When grinding wheat, large pieces of it are sifted out - this is semolina. That is why it is made in flour mills, although semolina is considered a cereal.

Step 2

Then add sugar to taste - our recipe advises adding 1 level tablespoon and a pinch of salt. Salt and sugar placed in such proportions will create a pleasant sweet-salty taste.

However, if you want to cook sweet porridge, then you should increase the amount of sugar and give up salt. Next, add a piece of softened butter (see photo).

On a note: To finally protect yourself from milk attempts to escape, before letting the multicooker cook semolina, grease the edges of the multicooker bowl with butter.

Step 3

Pour in the required amount of water and milk, carefully stir all the ingredients with a special spoon so as not to damage the ceramic coating.

We close the lid of the multicooker and cook the porridge in the “Milk porridge” mode for the standard amount of time allotted by the program.

This will take approximately half an hour, but the recipe will not give you a more accurate time - rely on your multicooker model. In the absence of the “Milk porridge” mode, you can cook on the “Rice” or “Pilaf” mode for 30 minutes.

About 15 minutes before the end of cooking, open the multicooker and carefully stir its contents (see photo).

Do not leave the semolina on the “Warming” mode, but it is better to serve it immediately - if, while stirring the porridge, you realize that it has now reached the optimal thickness for you, it’s time to “remove from the heat” (to prepare thin semolina, 15-20 minutes of cooking on the above-mentioned modes).

That's the whole recipe. If desired, the finished dish can be supplemented with sugar syrup or jam, or maybe a small piece of butter.

Fresh fruits and berries are ideal for semolina porridge. Not only because it is beautiful and tasty, but also due to the fact that semolina contains phytin, which prevents calcium from being absorbed normally. But this substance is easily neutralized by adding fruits and berries to the dish.

But don’t rush to get upset if your miracle saucepan does not have such a program, you can successfully use the “stew” mode - the porridge will turn out no worse. Today I want to talk about an unusual way of preparing semolina porridge in a slow cooker - in the “keep warm” mode. The unusual thing is that semolina is steamed in a slow cooker, rather than boiled. Using this function, I prepare a useful one, which I already talked about earlier, so I thought that I could experiment with semolina. The result impressed me - the porridge turned out tender and airy, and most importantly - no lumps! And all this with minimal effort! Great, isn't it?

Cooking method


  1. So, in order to prepare tasty and nutritious semolina porridge, we need food, the multicooker itself and a good mood. Let's start by boiling the milk. This can, of course, be done on the stove, but we have a slow cooker - it will cope with this task perfectly. And in order to avoid troubles associated with escaped milk, we will use one small culinary technique - pour milk into a bowl (if the milk is fatty, you can dilute it with boiled water), then use a piece of butter to draw a rim 5 cm above the milk level.

  2. Close the lid of the multicooker and set the “steaming” mode. If possible, set the time (in my cartoon the milk boils within 5-7 minutes after starting the program). The photo clearly shows that the milk did not escape anywhere. As soon as the milk boils, add a pinch of salt and sugar.

  3. Mix carefully and only now add the cereal, sifting it through a strainer - this culinary trick will save us from the formation of lumps, which many children do not like. After stirring the contents of the saucepan again, switch the multicooker to the “keep warm” mode and close the lid.

  4. After 15 minutes, the semolina in the slow cooker is ready. Season it with butter and serve.

If desired, and children love this very much, we decorate the porridge with fresh berries, pieces of fruit or dried fruit. For the little ones, you can use jam or jam to draw fancy funny faces. Your whims will definitely not refuse such semolina porridge! Have a nice, healthy and delicious breakfast!

Note: you can cook semolina in another, more familiar way. To do this, mix sugar, salt, cereal and pour into a dry multicooker bowl. Pour milk, make a rim with butter and run the “stew” or “milk porridge” program. After just 10-15 minutes the porridge is ready, so you can safely turn it off without waiting for the end of the program. In my opinion, this option is less troublesome (from the category of “set everything in and forget it”), but I must admit that according to this recipe I was not able to cook the porridge without any lumps at all - a couple, but still there are some. For myself, I concluded that cooking porridge in the “keep warm” mode is an ideal option. Firstly, the semolina actually turns out without lumps, and secondly, thanks to the low heating temperature of the saucepan, the risk of burning is reduced to zero, even if you suddenly, having become confused, forgot to turn off the multicooker in time. In any case, you can try both options and find “yours.”

Modern kitchen appliances make it easier to prepare tasty and healthy food. For example, when preparing semolina porridge in a slow cooker with milk, you do not need to stir it; it is enough to know the exact proportions of cereal and milk.

  • 1 cup semolina;
  • 2 glasses of homemade milk;
  • 50 gr. peasant oil (butter);
  • Sea salt and granulated sugar - to taste.

Grease the multicooker bowl (including the sides) with butter so that the porridge does not run away and the cereal does not stick to the walls of the container.

Pour in the cereal, add the remaining butter, salt and sugar. Their ratio depends on your preferences, some people like sweet porridge, while others prefer the most delicious salty porridge.

Pour in the milk, mix well with a special spatula or use a wooden (plastic) spoon.

Semolina porridge in a slow cooker with milk, prepared quickly, is a great way to avoid these troubles.

Products you will need:

  • 200 gr. semolina;
  • 550 ml. fresh milk;
  • 80 gr. vanilla sugar;
  • A large pinch of salt;
  • 65 gr. good quality butter (unsalted).

Cooking semolina porridge in a slow cooker:

Turn on the multicooker, setting the “Frying” mode, and heat the cereal in it until the color changes to golden. There is no need to add any oil, water or milk.

Now add sugar and salt to the golden cereal, drain the milk and mix everything well. Add butter and stir the porridge for a few more minutes.

Switch the device to the “Heating” mode and leave the porridge for 10-15 minutes so that the semolina swells. At the same time, you can do the rest of your morning tasks without worrying about the dish burning.

It is best to serve quick vanilla porridge with bright fresh berries or fruits and white bread toast with unsalted butter.

Option 3: Liquid semolina with milk in a slow cooker

Small children, and some adults, do not like thick porridge, preferring liquid semolina porridge with milk in a slow cooker. And this is not without reason, it turns out tasty and just as nutritious.   • A piece of butter - 50 g;
  • To taste - salt and granulated sugar.

Cooking semolina porridge in a slow cooker:

Pour milk and water into the multicooker bowl, add salt and sugar according to taste preferences.

Set the cooking mode of the device to “Steam”, add semolina and butter and heat, remembering to stir and without closing the device with a lid for 5-7 minutes.

As soon as the porridge begins to thicken, close the lid of the device, change the mode to “Heating” or “Simmering”, and continue heating for another 10 minutes.
Divide the porridge among plates and add a little more butter. Any jam, condensed milk or thick fruit syrup is perfect as a flavoring additive. It is with syrup that you can draw funny “faces” on the porridge so that children have an interesting breakfast.

Option 4: Semolina porridge in a slow cooker with coconut milk

It’s very unusual to diversify semolina porridge with milk in a slow cooker; you can use coconut milk instead of cow’s or goat’s milk for cooking. If you couldn't find it on store shelves in your city, use cream. The taste will be almost the same with them.

Products you will need:

  • A glass of semolina;
  • Lime - 1 pc. (can be replaced with lemon);
  • 400 ml. coconut milk;
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of brown or cane sugar;
  • A large pinch of table salt;
  • 1 umbrella of cloves;
  • 3 cardamom pods;
  • Lard - to taste.

Cooking semolina porridge in a slow cooker:

Turn on the multicooker, set the “Baking” or “Frying” mode, add the cereal without adding oil and fry it until a pleasant golden hue. You can simplify the task if you do it on the stove in a regular frying pan.

Grease a clean and cooled multicooker bowl with butter, pour in milk, add spices, salt and sugar. Heat on any suitable mode, add the cereal in a thin stream, and stirring, bring to a boil or until the porridge thickens.

Remove spices from the finished porridge so that they do not end up in the plate when serving.

Now let the semolina porridge simmer in the “Warming” mode or cool it before serving.

For preparation, you can use both regular, but only high-quality chocolate, and cocoa powder. And the porridge will be even tastier if you first boil thick and aromatic cocoa from milk.

Products you will need:

  • 45 gr. semolina;
  • 480 ml. good fresh milk;
  • 25 gr. unsalted butter;
  • 2 teaspoons brown or cane sugar;
  • 5 spoons of cocoa powder or 100 gr. good dark chocolate;
  • A pinch of sea salt.

Cooking semolina porridge in a slow cooker:

As mentioned above, to make the porridge creamy and rich in flavor, it is recommended to pre-brew hot chocolate from milk and cocoa powder. It is fashionable to do this with chocolate itself, just warm it in milk with sugar, salt, and if desired, you can even add vanillin or cardamom.

Grease the bowl of the device with butter so that the porridge does not burn, then the chocolate will harden and it will be difficult to wash it off.

Pour in cocoa or milk with grated chocolate chips, add salt and spices, mix and gently pour in the cereal in a thin stream. Stir, add butter and cook for about 15 minutes in the “Stew” or “Steam” mode.

Don't forget to leave some chocolate chips to decorate the porridge before serving.
