How to make lazy dumplings low-calorie?

Low-fat cottage cheese is present in many diets, as it is a source of many beneficial vitamins, minerals and trace elements that are absolutely necessary for the normal functioning of the human body.

Dietary lazy dumplings can be prepared in such a way that they contain a minimum of calories. The main secret is to use instant oats, oatmeal or cornmeal instead of flour. Instead of sugar, you can use a substitute or eliminate it altogether. In this case, lazy cottage cheese dumplings can be served with honey, which is allowed in small quantities in many diets. If you have a very strict diet, you can use a recipe in which the lazy dumplings should turn out salty. Thus, sugar will simply not be included in the recipe.

As a last resort, to reduce calorie content, you can use your favorite recipe for preparing a delicious dish, changing the ratio of the main ingredients very slightly. This is very easy and simple to do. You just need to take more low-fat cottage cheese and less flour. In this case, it is better to give preference to dry cottage cheese, which can absorb less flour. After all, if the consistency of the curd mass is not dense enough, you will not be able to form balls and the dish will simply not work out. In addition, it is better to grind the cottage cheese using a regular spoon rather than using a blender, since the consistency of the curd mass largely depends on this. If you use a blender, the mixture will become more liquid and will be able to absorb quite a lot of flour.

Semolina is the closest relative of flour, or rather, the same wheat flour only more coarsely ground. Associations with the word “semolina”, of course, are not pleasant for everyone: kindergarten’s lumpy porridge is immediately remembered. And if earlier semolina porridge was almost the main dish in the diet of children, today pediatricians do not favor it. It is difficult to digest and contains few nutrients. But semolina has found wide application in cooking. This is both an excellent breading and an excellent component for dough. Semolina swells well, so any dish, including lazy dumplings, becomes soft with it. It is important that this cereal is inexpensive and available everywhere.

How to choose ingredients

  • Groats. It is believed that the more semolina in the composition, the more tender the dumplings will be. Moreover, they will not spread when cooked. To make lazy dumplings with cottage cheese and semolina, it is important to use high-quality cereals made from durum wheat. It cooks better and is less harmful to the figure. After purchasing, the cereal should be poured into a plastic container and stored in a darkened cabinet. Constantly check if there are any bugs in the container; they “love” semolina much more than children.
  • Cottage cheese. For this dish you need to choose non-acidic cottage cheese, preferably fatter. Of course, when preparing dietary lazy dumplings without flour and semolina, you can use low-fat cottage cheese, but this will be to the detriment of taste.
If you like the texture of cottage cheese in your dumplings, simply mash it with a spoon when you knead the dough. You can also use a grain product that is so popular today, it will be felt even stronger. If you want the dumplings to be homogeneous, first rub the cottage cheese through a sieve.

Cook deliciously and enjoy your meal!

Hello my dears!

Remember, in my last article I promised to give you a healthy and tasty surprise?

So, this is it! Lazy dumplings with cottage cheese, without sugar, with whole grain flour.

Unexpectedly, but still.

I tried these diet lazy dumplings for the first time last year and really liked them. Now if I cook, it’s only like this.

I like these dumplings better than classic ones, because whole grain flour has a much brighter and richer taste.

Although you can also use regular flour. Technology-wise, nothing changes.

I don't add sugar to them, and when serving, drizzle with honey, Greek yogurt and sprinkle with fruits or berries.

By the way, Italians add parmesan to such dumplings and serve them as a main course.

One day I sinned and topped the dumplings with heavy cream and honey. And after the dumplings were finished, there was some dressing left on the plate. I felt sorry for pouring it out. And it dawned on me.

Once upon a time, in the distant childhood past, our grandmother had a cow in our village. Accordingly, we distilled milk with our own separator (for those who don’t know, this is a unit that separates cream from milk), made our own sour cream, butter, cottage cheese, etc.

So, the most delicacy in the village at that time was to pour fresh, still warm, village sour cream the color of baked milk, mix it with natural honey and dip fresh white bread into it. You have no idea what a thrill it is!

In short, I got about the same buzz by crumbling bread into this gravy, which was left over after dumplings. True, the bread was whole grain and there was cream instead of homemade sour cream, but it was so similar!

Now I’m thinking about whether I should sin again... When else, if not September 1, should I take a trip to my childhood.

And also (apparently, in my old age I was completely sick) and I decided to cook Greek corn for the first time in my life. No one cooks it here, but everyone bakes it on the grill. After consulting with my mother in advance, I cooked it. I have never eaten such sweet and juicy corn before. Greece was a pleasant surprise once again. I didn’t think that corn in this climate would be so tasty.

But let's get back to our lazy dumplings.

Although they won’t take me back to my childhood (somehow we weren’t lazy in our family - we always made regular ones)), but they are very tasty and don’t look like ordinary lazy dumplings.
