Breakfast dishes for a 1 year old child. Milk porridge with carrots “Friendly Company”. What should a toddler's breakfast be like?

Preschool children need to have breakfast, because having breakfast helps prevent excess weight in children and adolescents. And the acquired habit of eating breakfast will save you from obesity in adulthood. A child’s lack of appetite in the morning is an indicator of lack of sleep.

It doesn’t matter whether your baby has breakfast at home or in kindergarten. The main thing is that he eats! If it’s a long way to get to kindergarten, or mom’s cooking tastes better, you can eat at home. When the garden is close, and the baby is unpretentious in food, let him have breakfast in the garden. But if the baby is prone to obesity, it would be optimal to avoid double feeding (home + garden).

The daily caloric intake of preschool children is approximately 1800-2000 kcal per day (of which about 25% should be consumed for breakfast). At the same time, you need to ensure that protein foods in the diet become less compared to early age, but the proportion of carbohydrates increases. It is carbohydrates and fats that become the main sources of energy for a child 3-6 years old, which means that a preschooler should receive more vegetables, fruits and flour products. If your child attends kindergarten, rest assured: the food there is balanced and designed taking into account age standards for food components, microelements and vitamins.

It is better for children to choose gentle cooking methods when preparing breakfast (boiling, baking, stewing). You should not experiment with exotic dishes and spices.

Dry breakfasts (muesli, cereal, balls and stars - with milk or yogurt) can also be offered to your baby, but not more than twice a week: as a rule, they contain a lot of sugar and may also contain dyes. The optimal morning drink is cocoa or tea (with milk).

So, here is a detailed breakfast plan for your preschooler for the week:

Monday: milk porridge

Oatmeal is optimal, but many kids don’t really like it. Don't worry, rice, buckwheat or millet porridge are perfect for breakfast. To attract your little picky eater to the table, diversify the porridge with fresh or frozen berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, currants) or pieces of pre-steamed dried fruit. For flavor, add a pinch of vanilla or cinnamon and garnish with a drizzle of sweet syrup (such as strawberry or chocolate). Don't indulge in highly allergenic nuts and honey.

Almost all children love pasta. In order for them to be beneficial and not harmful, choose pasta made from durum wheat and do not overcook it - proper pasta should remain hard. Buckwheat or rice noodles can be an excellent option for replacing classic pasta.
The good thing about pasta for breakfast is that it can be prepared completely differently every week. It goes well with cheese, eggs, and vegetables. If you don't have time, you can simply boil the pasta and sprinkle grated cheese on top. Periodically on “pasta” day you can make your child milk soup with noodles.

Saturday: dumplings, lazy dumplings

Most children will not refuse to enjoy this dish in the morning. Homemade dumplings with fruit or curd filling can be made in advance and stored in the freezer, using as needed. And lazy dumplings are easy to make right in the morning.

WHAT TO COOK:

Lazy dumplings

(3 servings)

  • Cottage cheese – 200 g.

  • Brown sugar – 1 tbsp.
  • Salt - to taste

Preparation:

Place the cottage cheese in a large cup and add sugar to it. Add one chicken egg and stir the mixture. Grind the curd mixture in a blender. This is necessary so that the protein contained in the cottage cheese is better absorbed and digested. When heated during cooking, the protein in the curd thickens. And at the same time, the consistency of the mass improves significantly, the cottage cheese becomes airy and homogeneous. Add wheat flour to the resulting mass and knead the dough for lazy dumplings. If you have limited time, you can roll the dough into a sausage and cut it into equal pieces. Press the center of each piece with your finger. This action can be entrusted to a little assistant.
Place a saucepan of water over high heat. When the water boils, be sure to salt it. There is no need to overdo it so that the dumplings don’t get overcooked. After the water has boiled, carefully lower the dumplings into it.
When the dumplings appear on the surface of the water, it means they are almost ready. After this, let them cook for about 5 minutes, no more. Otherwise they may boil over. Carefully, so that the dumplings do not fall apart, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the water into a bowl. Let them cool a little. Add a little butter or sour cream to the dumplings. To decorate the dish, you can put a berry in the center of each dumpling.

Dumplings with cherries

  • Chicken egg - 1 pc.
  • Kefir – 1 glass
  • Soda - a pinch

To prepare dumplings with cherries, you need to break an egg into a bowl and beat it. Add kefir, soda to the egg and mix. Place flour in a bowl and pour liquid into the well. Gently stir with a fork, then knead with your hands. The dough should be soft and not stick to your hands. Sprinkle the table with flour and roll out the dough using a rolling pin. Using a cup, cut out circles from the dough. Wash the cherries. Place 2-3 cherries and half a teaspoon of sugar in each circle. (If the cherries are frozen, do not defrost them). Mold the edges of the dumplings. Boil dumplings with cherries in boiling water for 5 minutes after floating or cook in a double boiler for 15 minutes. If you end up with too many dumplings, you can freeze them in portions for next time. You can also make dumplings with strawberries, dumplings with cottage cheese or dumplings with liver.

Sunday: fruit salad

Fruits are an ideal option for breakfast. Use any fresh berries and fruits you find in the refrigerator: oranges, kiwis, apples, pears, strawberries. Season the salad with low-fat sour cream or plain yogurt, and use healthy dried fruits to add a special taste.

WHAT TO COOK:

Fruit salad with cottage cheese

  • tangerine – 1 pc.
  • banana – ½ pc.
  • apple – ½ pc.
  • lemon juice – 1 tsp.
  • crumbly cottage cheese – 50 g.
  • red currants and raspberries

Preparation:

First, take a banana, peel it and cut off half of the fruit. Then we cut it lengthwise into two parts and then cut it into semicircles, no more than five millimeters thick. Then we take the tangerine, peel it and divide it into slices.
Next, we prepare the third ingredient of our salad - an apple. We cut it in half, peel it, cut out the seed pod with the seeds, and cut everything else into small cubes and sprinkle with fresh lemon juice so that the apple does not darken.
Place the prepared fruits in a serving bowl. This can be done in layers or mixed. After this, carefully place the cottage cheese on the surface of the fruit salad. Finally, we decorate the dessert with red currants and raspberries, after which it can be served. For lovers of sweet desserts, you can serve sweet cottage cheese instead of regular cottage cheese. Before eating, fruit salad for children can be mixed and combined with cottage cheese or eaten in separate pieces, enjoying the change in tastes.

Fruit salad with yogurt

  • Apple – 1 pc.
  • Tangerines – 2 pcs.
  • Banana – 1 pc.
  • Yogurt – 1 glass

Preparation:

Cut each fruit or divide it into small pieces. You can add some steamed raisins. The size of the pieces of fruit is determined based on the age of the child: small crumbs definitely need to cut all the fruits as finely as possible, while it is useful for older children to be given medium-sized pieces in order to develop the chewing muscle.
Then pour yogurt over the fruit. You can replace yogurt with an equal amount of sour cream - it will also turn out very healthy and tasty! Mix the fruit salad thoroughly. You don’t have to add sugar - it’s not that healthy for a child’s body. The presence of banana and raisins will add sweetness to the salad.

Video: Children's menu. Delicious and healthy breakfast for a child

Eastern wisdom advises eating the whole breakfast, giving half of lunch to a friend, and not eating at all in the evening. One of the secrets of a proper children's breakfast is the right... dinner the day before. It should be light so that the body rests at night and does not digest food, and in the morning the baby feels hungry. What should a children's breakfast be like?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be tasty, healthy and satisfying.

Basic principles of a proper breakfast for a child

Eating in the morning gives you a boost of energy to be active until lunch. Breakfast should be hot, filling, but easily digestible. Products are boiled, baked, stewed. An ideal morning menu includes foods containing protein (eggs, meat), carbohydrates (cereals), fats (vegetable oil and butter), fiber and vitamins (vegetables, fruits).

Are popular flakes, rings, and stars acceptable in baby food? Sometimes they can be given to a child over 3 years old for breakfast with milk, yogurt, juice, but keep in mind that they contain a lot of sugar and artificial additives.

The best step-by-step recipes for children's breakfast

Dear reader!

This article talks about typical ways to solve your issues, but each case is unique! If you want to know how to solve your particular problem, ask your question. It's fast and free!

In the morning, as a rule, there is not enough time for anything. To make quick food tasty and healthy, get “helpers”. A multicooker with a steamer function and an electric oven will make cooking easier - you will cook porridge, casseroles, omelets, while doing other morning chores and without fear that the food will burn or run away. Try not to use the microwave to prepare and heat food for children: chefs consider such food “dead.”

We offer several simple recipes for children aged one year and older. Taking them as a basis, diversify the children's menu using your imagination.

Porridge

The best morning food is porridge, but feeding it to a child can be difficult. From the age of 3, add berries, pieces of fresh or steamed dried fruit, nuts, grated chocolate, and vegetables. You can pour syrup over the milk porridge.

Soak the cereal overnight - the cooking time will be halved. If the porridge is cooked in water, put the food in the slow cooker in the evening by turning on the timer. Then the porridge will be ready to rise.

Combined porridge with carrots

Prepare healthy porridge with milk from various cereals with carrots.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tbsp. rice;
  • 1/4 tbsp. buckwheat;
  • 1/4 tbsp. barley;
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • 1 tbsp. raisins;
  • 1/2 tbsp. milk;
  • sugar, salt and butter to taste.

Take the cereal, rinse, cover with cold water and leave overnight. In the evening, peel the carrots, chop them into strips, wrap them in cling film to prevent them from drying out, and put them in the refrigerator. Sort, rinse and dry a tablespoon of raisins.

In the morning, place the soaked cereal along with water into boiling salted water, after draining the excess (the water should cover the cereal) and adding carrots. After boiling, cook for 5-6 minutes over medium heat. Then add a teaspoon of sugar, raisins, half a glass of milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook the porridge for 20-25 minutes. Before serving, place a piece of butter on a plate.

Porridge is a source of slow carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins necessary for a growing body

Omelettes and other egg dishes

The easiest way to satisfy your protein needs in the morning is to cook scrambled eggs or an omelet. The benefits will be even greater if you use quail eggs. In terms of calories, 1 chicken egg is equal to 10 quail eggs, and in terms of nutritional value, 2 quail eggs are equal to 1 chicken egg!

A good idea is scrambled eggs in bread (see also:). Cut out the crumb from a slice of bread with a cookie cutter. In a preheated frying pan with melted butter, fry the bread on one side. Beat 1 chicken egg (or 5 quail) into the middle; if the child does not like fried eggs, beat it first. Salt, add herbs, fry. Cover the pan with a lid and keep on low heat for about 5 minutes or turn the bread over with the egg and fry on the other side.

A steamed omelet is ideal for a child from the age of one (more details in the article:). If you don't have a steamer, use a wide saucepan, a colander and silicone baking pans. Beat 2 eggs and a teaspoon of cream, pour into a greased pan and place in a steamer tray or colander placed on a saucepan over boiling water. Place the finished omelette out of the mold onto a plate and sprinkle with grated cheese and herbs.

Cottage cheese dishes

Cottage cheese in the morning is good not only for its high content of animal protein, vitamins and microelements. If it is a fresh product from a store or from a reliable seller, it can be eaten without heat treatment, mixed with pieces of fruit or herbs.

A more complex dish is cottage cheese casserole. Boil 100 g of dried apricots, a tablespoon of raisins and the zest of a quarter of an orange for 15 minutes. Grind the dried apricots to a puree. Mix 230 g of cottage cheese, a tablespoon each of semolina and sugar, 2 eggs, vanilla and a quarter teaspoon of baking powder, beat with a mixer. Add raisins, stir, place in pan. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C until golden brown for about 25 minutes. Remove from the mold and cool. Ready!

Sandwiches

A sandwich for breakfast is rather an exception when it comes to children, and the younger the child, the less often a sandwich should appear on his table. Try to place healthy ingredients on the bread slice.

Cut a piece of loaf with a dense crumb or take bread for toast. If your child likes the crust to crunch, put the bread in the toaster. Spread processed or curd cheese onto the prepared base, place a leaf of lettuce or Chinese cabbage, a slice of tomato, a slice of boiled beef or chicken breast. A hearty dish is ready.

Another option for a morning sandwich is sweet. Spread a slice of bread with creamy cottage cheese. Place sliced banana on top and sprinkle with grated chocolate.

Pasta

Pasta is one of the few foods that most children love. They seem more appropriate for lunch or dinner, but they will also work well in the morning - for example, in the form of a casserole.

Boil 200 g of small pasta, drain the water, cool. Add 100 g of grated cottage cheese, a quarter cup of sugar and one egg beaten with milk. Mix everything carefully. Place the resulting mass into a greased pan and bake at 180°C until golden brown.

Pancakes and other baked goods

The smell of fresh baked goods will wake up a little sleepyhead better than a loud bell! Pancakes and pancakes take a maximum of half an hour to prepare if no more than 3 people sit at the table.

Cooking pancakes in a bottle will help you save time on washing dishes. Take a plastic bottle with a wide neck, pour a glass of kefir or curdled milk into it, break one egg. Screw on the lid and shake the contents. Add one and a half tablespoons of sugar, half a teaspoon each of salt and baking powder, shake again. Add ¾ cup flour and mix again. Let stand for 5 – 8 minutes.

At this time, heat the frying pan, pour a little vegetable oil onto it. Shake the batter in the bottle again, remove the lid and pour the contents into the pan in neat circles. Turn the risen pancakes over so that the other side also browns. Serve with sour cream, favorite syrup, etc.

If you think that just pancakes or pancakes are not enough, prepare a healthy pancake with oatmeal and filling.

Grind 4 tablespoons of cereal in a coffee grinder, add an egg, 60 ml of milk, a pinch of salt. If you want to fill the pancake with a sweet filling, add a teaspoon of sugar. Stir. Pour the dough into a heated frying pan, greased with vegetable oil, and bake the pancake. Remove from heat and place on a plate. Place the filling on half of the pancake - chopped boiled egg with green onions, cutlet and lettuce, cottage cheese with banana or grated apple, etc. Cover with the other half and serve.

If your child is not allergic to honey, it goes perfectly with pancakes for breakfast

Features of children's breakfasts by age

A child's needs for proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and other nutrients change with age. One thing remains unchanged: in the morning he should receive a quarter of the daily calorie intake. The main dishes of a proper breakfast also remain constant: porridge, egg dishes, fresh vegetables, fruits or salads made from them.

What should breakfast be like at different ages?

What is good for a one-year-old toddler is not suitable for a 5-year-old preschooler, and the morning menu for a schoolchild at 7 and 10 years old will be different. Every day a child needs a varied diet, but this does not mean that meat, fish, milk, cereals, and fruits and vegetables must be crammed into every meal. The table below shows the daily calorie needs of children of different ages, as well as the characteristics of the first meal.

Please note that the total breakfast includes, in addition to the main dish, bread and a drink.

What dishes should not be cooked for children?

It is very important that breakfast is prepared from natural products and is light and satisfying at the same time.

It is not recommended to feed children fried, smoked, salted foods. Even adults should not be given such food in the morning. Sausage and frankfurters are tempting because they are quick to prepare, but it is better to avoid them completely or at least limit their consumption - they contain many artificial additives that can cause allergies in a child. In addition, children of any age should not be given:

  • fish and fatty meats;
  • Exotic fruits;
  • pickled vegetables;
  • mushrooms;
  • cakes with egg white cream;
  • carbonated sweet drinks;
  • chips, industrial crackers.

A 1-year-old child’s menu should include multi-component dishes, since the body is already able to digest and assimilate more complex dishes. This will be facilitated by the development of teeth, and by the year an average of 8 have already erupted! Also, the development of the enzyme system of the digestive tract allows both children and their mothers to switch to a more adult menu. However, we should not forget about the variety in products, as well as in the method and form of serving food. The dishes that one year old babies eat should be tasty, healthy and interesting, encouraging them to show interest in new products.

You can start introducing complementary foods at 5-6 months, the child will be happy to get acquainted with new foods, and by the age of one year his food is already quite varied. The diet of a one-year-old child differs from that of an adult in the method of preparation and a certain set of permitted products. What you can feed a one-year-old child, and how to create a menu for the week, every day, we will talk in this article.

Optimal menu

Undoubtedly, the diet of a one-year-old child includes the same foods that he ate before he was 1 year old. The kids' menu includes cereals, vegetables and fruits, cottage cheese and kefir, meat, and fish. The nutrition of a child from 1 year old will now combine the above products; in the approximate daily menu for your toddler you need to include several combinations of ready-made dishes - the child’s diet is now significantly expanded.

  • Breast milk and formula are also present in a child’s diet after one year. However, they are gradually being replaced by another full feeding - breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner.
  • Portion sizes increase by the age of one year, and the consistency of food gradually approaches the “adult” version.
  • After a year, a child grows actively, and his chewing muscles also actively develop, and this must be facilitated by preparing food of a coarser consistency; ground purees should be excluded from the diet of a one-year-old child.
  • After 1 year, you can safely introduce meat into the diet of a toddler: rabbit, young beef, lean pork, chicken. You need to pay attention both to the quality of the meat itself and its freshness, and to the supplier.
  • For a 1-year-old baby feeding on mother’s milk, it is very important to maintain breastfeeding, but there are significantly fewer of them; it is also necessary to offer fermented milk products - baby kefir, cottage cheese.
  • The soups on the children's menu are not fried, and the first meat broth must be drained after boiling.
  • The child's diet consists mainly of boiled, baked and stewed foods, with a low sugar content and low salt content.

List of products needed for 1 year

The calorie content of a toddler's daily diet should be at least 1300 kcal. The menu for a 1.5 year old child remains the same. However, the mobility and activity of the child should be taken into account: some require fewer calories, while others require supplements. However, the menu for a one-year-old child must include the following products:

  • milk - 400 ml. (including mom’s);
  • fermented milk products - up to 200 g, of which 50 g cottage cheese and 150 g kefir;
  • porridge - 200 g;
  • meat - 60 g;
  • fish - 60 g;
  • bread - 10 g;
  • children's cookies - 15 g;
  • fruits - 110 g;
  • vegetables - 200 g;
  • fruit juice - 100 g;
  • liver - 20 g;
  • egg - 20 g.

A sample menu for the child is compiled from these products. When choosing vegetables and fruits, you need to especially consider seasonality. As the famous doctor Komarovsky says, it is better to offer your child fruits and vegetables in season. They contain more vitamins and more benefits for a growing body.

The daily menu for a one-year-old baby does not need to include all of the above products at the same time. Fish, liver, and eggs are given twice a week.

Diet menu

The frequency of feeding a baby 1 year -1.5 years is 6 times a day, early morning breastfeeding or formula feeding is maintained, and kefir can be offered before bedtime. The main meals on a one-year-old child's menu for every day are breakfast, second breakfast (lunch), lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. We should not forget about the second dinner. A well-fed child sleeps better at night. Next, consider the menu for a 1-year-old child.

Breakfast

Depending on what time your baby wakes up and whether you put him to the breast upon waking, breakfast is planned. Gradually, when the first breastfeeding or a bottle of formula is replaced with a full breakfast, this can be porridge with diluted cow's milk or goat's milk. You can also use the mixture to prepare porridge if your child is intolerant to milk protein or lactose.

We include porridges: buckwheat and rice (they are the least allergenic), oatmeal, corn, millet. Cook porridge in the proportion of 200 g of liquid (milk, water) and 2 tbsp. l. cereals Boil for about 15 minutes. Semolina is less healthy, because apart from refined gluten, to which some children are allergic, there is very little useful in it.

We decorate the porridge with pieces of fruit, or grate them for a variety of tastes.

Twice a week you can give your one-year-old child an omelette made from 1 steamed egg (chicken or 2 quail), with the addition of milk. You can try adding fresh dill to the omelette for beauty and good tummy function. It should be noted that by adding fresh greens to food, we increase the vitamin content of food and also have a beneficial effect on the digestion process.

For porridge, you can offer weak tea or compote of fruits and dried fruits. Bread should also be offered at breakfast. We only take into account the freshness and quality of the bread. Rye and refined white should not be given. One and two will cause bloating and gas in the baby. Let it be yesterday's bread, not a loaf, but simple white bread.

Second breakfast (lunch)

The second feeding after breakfast cannot be neglected! Your active child will ask to eat, and at this meal it is very good to give yogurt with fruit, or fruit puree. It is fruits that will stimulate the digestive tract to eat at lunch, increase the content of gastric juice and simply increase appetite, with which many children have problems.

A baked apple is very useful for this. You just need to watch out for an allergic reaction to red apples, and it is better to buy yellow and green ones.

You can add cookies to lunch. But not crackers, but diet cookies, like Maria. Or any childish, insipid low-fat cookies.

Often the second breakfast falls during a walk. There are two options: either take a jar of food with you, which is not always convenient, or use store-bought fruit and yoghurt-fruit purees, specially packaged in airtight packaging, which is especially important on any trips. With this option, both hands are clean and the child is interested in trying a new way of feeding. And besides, it’s so fun and delicious to eat on the street!

Dinner

The time has come when you returned from your walk and it is time for lunch. You can feed a one-year-old baby during the day with either soup or a combination of the first and second courses.

Based on the experience of many mothers, there are recommendations for preparing a thicker and more satisfying soup for lunch. The soup recipe will be based on your imagination and the child’s good tolerance of all colored vegetables. But if we prepare soup with meat broth, then, naturally, the first broth is drained, and the second is seasoned with meat and vegetables, cut into small cubes, which are boiled together until tender.

When cooking vegetable soup, at the end of cooking you need to add a tablespoon of vegetable oil - this can be either olive oil or good quality sunflower oil. However, it should be noted that bone broth cannot be cooked for a 1-year-old child. This leads to increased secretory production of the stomach and pancreas.

The second course is unsweetened porridge without milk and vegetable purees, in combination with meat or fish dishes, do not forget about the liver (beef, chicken). Undoubtedly, the children's menu lacks fried foods, spices and a large amount of salt.

In summer, it is allowed to give your child a vegetable salad for lunch. If you serve it, beautifully decorated in the form of a child’s character, then such salads will not only improve the child’s digestion, but also his mood for feeding. Just try to introduce a new dish slowly, adding one new vegetable to your one-year-old baby’s diet at a time and observing the body’s reaction to the new product throughout the day.

Afternoon snack

A baby's afternoon snack in one year gradually replaces breast milk or formula feeding with other dairy products - milk porridge, cottage cheese with fruit, cheesecakes or cottage cheese casserole. You can also offer your child compote or cookies with milk.

Whole cow's milk is introduced into the diet very carefully. Children's reaction to it is individual, and if everything is normal with tolerance, then the milk is first diluted with water; in its pure form it can cause colic in the tummy.

Dinner

Coming from an evening walk, (5 hours after lunch) dinner is planned. When observing the feeding and waking hours of a 1-year-old child, you should take into account that dinner is not too late. A sample menu for a child for dinner most often coincides with the second lunch course.

For dinner for your baby, you can prepare vegetable stew, porridge (without milk) with meatballs or pieces of meat or fish. Don't forget to add a drop of vegetable oil to the vegetable stew if the stew has been cooked. This way we will relieve the child from constipation, and his intestines will work like clockwork!

Second dinner

When breastfeeding, you should offer your baby mother's milk before bedtime. If artificial, it will be a mixture, or even better, a fermented milk mixture or simple baby kefir. For a sick baby, the number of meals can be increased by 1. Eating before bed should be light, but familiar.

If your child often wakes you up at night and asks for food, then it’s time to wean him off night feedings by offering him either milk or water from a bottle, since the digestive system is growing and rebuilding in an “adult way”, which in the future will be the key to successful his work and the health of your baby.

  • It is very important to follow a diet. If you follow this simple rule, the child will eat your food with pleasure, since the body itself will require it at a certain time.
  • For a one-year-old child, the ritual of eating is very important. Let cutlery, napkins, and bread be beautifully laid out on the table. Allow your child to help you organize these items. Sit down to eat with him if he can already eat something on his own.
  • Place toys near your baby and they will also take part in the meal.
  • Don’t exclude a product you don’t like from your diet, just mix it discreetly into other dishes, so you won’t deprive it of the nutrients it needs.
  • Your 1-year-old baby may show you that he is not hungry by refusing to eat. Don't panic, you can either shift the feeding schedule when the baby is really hungry. Or reduce the portion size for the child. Or remove one of the feedings.
  • It is worth considering that when feeding, for example, lunch, you need to serve the dishes one by one, so that after the end of the first course the little one sees the second, but not before, otherwise overkill cannot be avoided.
  • Snacking on bread and cookies does not bode well. Lost appetite and diet are a real headache for parents. Therefore, do not allow anyone close to you to feed your baby between feedings.

The most important thing is to maintain an accessible drinking regime. The importance of this point is especially noted by Dr. Komarovsky in his interviews. Children may not say that they are thirsty, simply forgetting, playing too much, and then get drunk before eating, skipping lunch. Offer water constantly between feedings. But even during meals, you can give your child a little water or compote to drink.

Within a year, a growing child already becomes a full-fledged participant in the parental meal, and a child’s nutrition after 1 year should not frighten mothers with different menus, recipes and products. After all, this time is so fleeting, and our help for a baby who is preparing to step into adulthood is priceless.

Take care of your children! Feed them tasty, healthy and varied foods. And soon you will remember with special trepidation this transitional period of your child’s growing up!

Most mothers are surrounded by a dense ring of household responsibilities, sometimes missing important stages in the growth of the younger generation of the family. Morning awakening is often accompanied by a mother’s thought: “What should I cook for my child for breakfast?”, which comes along with dreams of his good appetite and mood. The first meal is very important, both for obtaining a little energy and full development, and for the health of his still fragile digestive system.

Of course, there is a difference between breakfast for 2-year-olds and breakfast for a schoolchild. Breakfast for kids should not only be nutritious, but also arouse the child’s interest. Food that is ugly in appearance gives rise to a reluctance in the baby to eat, not its taste. Little children do not yet have taste preferences, but external stimuli (unusual presentation of dishes) are always perceived with interest.

Seeing something boring on a plate, a 1-2 year old child refuses to eat it, and the mother insists that it will alarm him. But, if at an early age you follow the whims of the baby, then you can accustom him to junk food, and this is fraught with the development of unhealthy eating behavior in the future. Therefore, a delicious breakfast for children is an attractive presentation of the food, and not, in fact, recipes.

Three important conditions for a proper breakfast for children 2 years old

Condition one

A 2-3 year old child should have breakfast twice. The first morning meal is designed to start the bowels and be light and liquid. The second breakfast must already be high in calories, high in carbohydrates.

If your baby wakes up late (at 9 am or later), then you can skip the first breakfast. In this case, after waking up, give him some herbal unsweetened tea and start cleaning the bed and water procedures.

Condition two

Don't insist on eating immediately after your baby wakes up! Do some exercises in bed, tidy up the crib in a playful way, and wash your face and brush your teeth together. The baby will cheer up and ask to eat.

Condition three

Serve the dishes in beautiful “packaging”: a plate with a child’s drawing on the bottom, a decoration of bright berries and fruits and other creative elements.

Sample breakfast menu for children 2 years old

First breakfast

For meals that trigger the work of the stomach and intestines, herbal tea, weak tea with milk and a small cracker are suitable.

Don't give your little one sugary cookies! After eating sweets, the child will soon not want to eat. A third of a banana or a baked apple with herbal tea is the best option instead of cookies. For the first meal, 100-150 ml of kefir or low-fat yogurt is also suitable.

Lunch

Offer carbohydrate and high-calorie foods after 1-1.5 hours. It should be nutritious and tasty. We offer you several breakfast recipes for your baby:

Option #1

Cottage cheese with sour cream and fruit.

Cocoa with milk and bread with butter.

Option No. 2

Egg omelet - with milk and vegetables (grated carrots, pumpkin or herbs).

Weak tea with milk, toast with jam.

Option No. 3

Milk porridge - buckwheat, rice, oatmeal or millet - with dried fruits.

Liquid yogurt or kefir.

Semolina porridge, which mothers grew up eating, should not occupy a significant place in children's breakfasts. Semolina contains only calories and no nutrients. Therefore, semolina porridge should be prepared for a child no more than once a week.

Option No. 4

Cottage cheese casserole with sour cream.

Tea with milk and a few unsweetened cookies.

Option No. 5

Fried eggs with sausage and herbs.

Cocoa with milk and toast with jam.

There are dozens of options for children's breakfast for a 2-3 year old child! The main thing here is not to overdo it with sweet dishes. Porridge and cottage cheese do not need to be sweetened at all. If you supplement the porridge with dried fruits or fresh fruits, the fructose and sucrose contained in them is enough to sweeten the dish.

Recipes for children's breakfast

Cottage cheese casserole with apples

Ingredients: 3 apples, 200 g of cottage cheese, 1 yolk, a handful of raisins and a third of a bag of vanilla sugar.

  1. We wash the apples under running water. Using a knife with a sharp end, we cut out the insides from the side of the peduncle, forming a cavity for the filling with a wall thickness of about 8-10 mm. Remove the seeds and partitions from the cut-out apple pulp and chop the pulp into small pieces.
  1. Grind the cottage cheese through a sieve, add vanilla sugar, beat in the yolk, throw in the raisins and sliced apple (the part of the apple that was removed). Mix the entire curd mass thoroughly and fill the voids in the apples.
  1. Place the stuffed fruits in a baking dish and bake in the oven (200 degrees) or in a slow cooker on the “baking” mode for 20-30 minutes. Cooking time depends on the type of apple.

* Cook's Advice

If your baby is not allergic to honey, then place a third of a teaspoon of honey in the center of each apple with curd filling. It tastes better this way!

Milk millet porridge with pumpkin

Prepare millet porridge in water (2 tablespoons of dry millet). Peel the pumpkin (100 g) and grate it. Add pumpkin to the cooked millet, add a little salt, add 1 tsp. sugar and pour half a glass of milk. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes. Serve with butter.

If you have time and the child is keen on playing, then do not cook the porridge with milk, but immediately after the milk boils, cover the saucepan with a lid and wrap it in a warm scarf or towel and let it simmer in the warmth for 20-30 minutes. It's healthier for the baby!

Milk rice porridge with cranberries

Cook the rice, add milk, sweeten with sugar or honey and simmer in milk for 10 minutes. Serve with butter. We decorate the dish with cranberries and come up with an interesting story about “berries in the snow.” The porridge will be eaten!

When thinking about the menu, just imagine yourself as a child!

What to cook for a 1 year old child for breakfast? How to make it useful, and even please the fussy little one? We’ll suggest a few simple recipes for dishes that won’t take up a lot of mom’s time and will definitely please the baby.

Features of the diet of a one-year-old child

The second year of life is a kind of turning point in the baby’s transition to the “adult” type of nutrition. Therefore, it is even more complex and responsible than the first 12 months. Why?

  1. It would seem that the volume of the stomach is already large and can sometimes accommodate even dad’s portion (depending on the mood). But at the same time, pediatricians recommend sparing the still imperfect digestive system and limiting yourself to 250 ml. After all, an overstretched stomach cannot actively contract and push the food bolus into the duodenum. Therefore, when overfeeding, you can easily provoke profuse vomiting, or even habitual vomiting that causes a lot of trouble for parents.
  2. The child already has from 4 to 10 teeth, with which he bites household members very well. But it lasts up to 2 years, while the molars, intended for chewing food, usually appear only after one and a half years. Try it yourself, can you thoroughly chew a piece of seemingly soft chicken with just your front teeth? But this is one of the main principles of preventing the occurrence of acute and chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa - gastritis. Therefore, the mother needs to adapt to the capabilities of her tooth: food must be ground.
  3. In the second year of life, you need to accustom the baby to the new consistency of food. After all, out of habit, any lump, even the smallest one, at first causes a reflex irritation of the back wall of the throat and can provoke vomiting. It will take patience, perseverance and ingenuity for your baby to finally enjoy eating solid foods.
  4. How I want to seat a child at the common family table! But there is no need to rush! After all, he is still unfamiliar with “adult” bad habits: over-salting, smoked foods, fried or flavored dishes with hot spices. For the still immature digestive tract, this will be tasty, but a very difficult test. Therefore, the whole family can eat at the same time - but the baby must have his own food.
  5. In the first half of life, it is advisable to maintain 5 meals a day, waiting for the moment when the little one refuses one feeding. It is very important to follow a meal plan. This helps improve the functions of the digestive glands of the stomach and intestines and improves appetite. What does a mother need to be happy? That's right - when her child happily devours both cheeks.
  6. In the second year of life, the child already begins to develop taste preferences. Unfortunately, at this age you shouldn’t even try to explain the beneficial properties of the product or appeal to the little tyrant’s not yet awakened conscience. And force-feeding unloved foods only perpetuates aversion to them, to the point of vomiting just from the sight or smell of them. And here everything comes in handy: turning eating into a fun game, a positive example from parents or older brothers and sisters, original decoration and changing the cooking recipe in such a way as to “hide” the unloved component. And one more tip: this dish should be the first, while the baby is still hungry and not so picky. But you need to remember: often the reason for rejection of a certain group of foods is a congenital deficiency of the enzyme responsible for its digestion or assimilation. Therefore, if you stubbornly refuse certain foods, it is better to consult a pediatrician.

What should a toddler's breakfast be like?

What to cook for a 1 year old child for breakfast? A volume of about 250 ml needs to contain at least 25% of the daily energy requirement so that it is enough for the little fidget not only for games, but also for active growth. At the same time, it is desirable that the baby receives a sufficient amount of slowly released carbohydrates for brain development and animal proteins. Therefore, the optimal starting products for breakfast are various cereals, cottage cheese (up to 60 grams per day), pasta and durum wheat flour, sour cream, butter, milk, fruits and some vegetables (pumpkin, carrots). In addition, in the morning it is recommended to give those foods that excite the nervous system and can cause sleep disturbances: eggs, cheese, honey.

To prepare a healthy breakfast for a 1-year-old child, you need to have a sieve, a saucepan, a stove with oven, and a frying pan in the kitchen (but use it as little as possible, only for frying). Modern achievements of technological progress will greatly facilitate mother’s work and speed up the process. Therefore, a double boiler, microwave oven, multicooker, mixer, chopper, blender will not be superfluous.

Healthy Breakfast Recipes

Porridge.

The most useful are buckwheat, millet, rice, and multigrain. Pearl barley is not recommended due to difficulties in absorption. You should not overuse semolina, which can cause allergies, anemia, and metabolic disorders in the form of paratrophy. Porridge is cooked from whole grains or flakes to save time. To improve the taste, you can add butter to the cooking water, and when fully cooked, pour in a little milk and boil.

To make the porridge more beneficial, add a choice of:

  • pulp of grated raw or oven- or microwave-baked apple;
  • any children's canned fruit puree;
  • fresh or frozen fruits or berries crushed in a blender;
  • fruit jam or marmalade;
  • juice of carrots, cherries, blueberries, strawberries will make the porridge colored, and therefore even more attractive;
  • puree from pumpkin, carrots or carrot-pumpkin. To do this, finely chop the vegetables, boil until tender in water, and add a little milk at the end of cooking. Then beat until foam forms and mix with porridge.

Omelette.

Beat one raw chicken egg (for allergies or hypovitaminosis - 3 quail eggs) with a whisk, gradually adding fresh milk in a ratio of 1:2. Add finely chopped dill, you can also add parsley, a quarter teaspoon of butter. Cook in the microwave for 2-2.5 minutes.

The omelette is perfectly complemented by peeled and crushed tomatoes or cucumbers. Gradually, you can begin to grate them and then cut them into small pieces. Can be combined with vegetable puree, finely chopped salad of raw or boiled vegetables.

Pasta.

Well, how can you not take advantage of the variety of their shapes and sizes! You can quickly prepare several independent dishes from pasta boiled in water:

  • sprinkle with grated hard cheese;
  • add butter and sugar;
  • pour gravy from a pinch of flour boiled in milk with sugar or thick berry jelly;
  • add canned baby fruit puree as a dressing.

Cottage cheese.

Whipped into an airy paste or in its natural form for children in the second half of the year, it will strengthen teeth and bones, support the immune system and help normalize body weight if it is deficient. And in combination with sour cream it will be an ideal source of energy. Since it is not recommended to abuse it, you need to add 100 grams to 50-60 grams of cottage cheese:

  • cooked porridge (mix or beat well);
  • fresh fruits or berries, blended or grated;
  • children's canned fruit puree;

Puddings.

This is an ideal option for picky little picky eaters. Semi-liquid milk porridge (any cereal) must be mixed with ready-made fruit or vegetable puree (soft fruit pulp, baked apple, boiled pumpkin or carrot), egg yolk, warm milk, sugar, butter. Stir, add egg white and beat in a blender or mixer until a fluffy homogeneous mass is formed. Pudding cooked in the microwave or in a double boiler will look like a soft soufflé, suitable even for a toothless baby. And if you bake it in the oven, you will get a denser cake for a child in the second half of life. It can be decorated with fruit or whipped cream.

Syrniki.

The standard set for their preparation includes cottage cheese, flour, and egg. But you can make them more varied and useful:

  • replace part or all of the flour with semolina, millet or buckwheat flakes. You just need to let the dough stand for 20 minutes for the cereal to swell;
  • add raisins, dried apricots, dried prunes, steamed and whipped in a blender to the dough;
  • lightly fry the cheesecakes in a frying pan and cook them in a double boiler or microwave until ready;
  • before serving, draw a smiling face on them with sour cream or make rays of sunshine on the plate with honey or berry jam;
  • pour jelly from berry or fruit juice.

“Lazy” dumplings.

Semi-liquid dough is made from cottage cheese or paste, flour and eggs. You can add the same healthy ingredients as in the cheesecake dough. Sugar or salt, if necessary, is added immediately or in the gravy when serving. Place the dough into boiling water using a teaspoon. Readiness – a minute after the lumps emerge. Do not overcook, otherwise they will boil or become hard. Remove with a slotted spoon and immediately place on a plate. The child will eat them with pleasure if they are topped with sour cream or fruit puree.

Pancakes.

Thick with kefir or thin with fresh milk, they are always loved by children. We recommend adding cottage cheese or curd paste to the dough, pumpkin and carrots boiled in water and blended in a blender, grated fresh apples, raisins steamed and chopped in a chopper, prunes and dried apricots. You can serve them with sour cream, honey, jam, jelly.

For normal functioning of the digestive glands, water is required. Therefore, children of the second year of life must be given compote, weak tea, fruit juice, jelly, cocoa for breakfast (in the absence of allergies). The only exceptions are those meals where only fresh milk, kefir or adapted milk formula is consumed.

Bon appetit and good health to the little one!
