Cookies with poppy seeds recipe. Cookies with poppy seeds. Mixing sand base

Poppy is a very popular product in cooking, and it is not surprising, since many people have remembered the delicious taste of buns with black seeds inside since childhood. But besides them, with the addition of this component you can cook so many delicious things! In addition, baking with poppy seeds has beneficial properties: it relieves headaches, helps cope with colds and recover from illness.

The key to successful baking with poppy seed filling is its proper pre-processing. Culinary experts provide a number of standard tips on how to prepare poppy seeds for baking.

Ingredients:

  • sugar (the ratio with poppy seeds should be 1:2);
  • water.

Cooking method:

  1. Rinse the poppy seeds thoroughly in running water. This step should be skipped if the recipe requires ground seeds, since you cannot load them raw into a coffee grinder.
  2. Pour boiling water over the product and allow time to swell (about half an hour). If the poppy seed is too dry, it makes sense to boil it for a couple of minutes.
  3. Drain the water through a sieve.
  4. If necessary, pass the poppy seeds through a meat grinder. However, those who love the very structure of the seeds skip this step or only grind the product a little in a mortar.
  5. Mix poppy seeds with sugar until smooth.

Before you start cooking, you need to focus on choosing poppy seeds. Pre-packaged products should be preferred to bulk products, since only in them can the presence of defects or foreign impurities be monitored.

Buns with poppy seeds made from yeast dough

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “poppy seed” is buns. The classic recipe for their preparation is as follows.

Ingredients:

  • 180 g poppy seeds;
  • ¼ pack of milk (+ 200 ml for filler);
  • a glass of sugar (+ 2 tablespoons for filler);
  • 600 g premium flour;
  • 95 g spread;
  • a small package of vanilla sugar (for filling);
  • 2 eggs (+1 for coating before baking);
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of vegetable oil;
  • a packet of dry yeast;
  • a pinch of salt.

Cooking method:

  1. Make the base of the buns. Pour warm milk into a deep bowl, add yeast and 1 tbsp. spoon of sugar. Sift a couple of tablespoons of flour into them, stir and leave the dough in a warm place for half an hour. It should double, or preferably triple, in size.
  2. Beat eggs with a glass of sugar. When it is completely dissolved, pour in the melted butter and add salt. Pour the mixture into the yeast base and add vegetable oil.
  3. Add flour, knead the dough thoroughly and form it into a ball. Cover it with a towel and leave for 1.5 hours at room temperature. After this, knead the dough well and leave it to proof again until it becomes fluffy again.
  4. Prepare the filling. Pour poppy seeds into boiling milk and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Cover with a lid and let sit for about an hour.
  5. Strain the grains through a sieve and grind with a blender. Mix with regular and vanilla sugar and grind again.
  6. Knead the suitable bun base and divide into 2 parts. On a floured countertop, roll out a sheet to 5 mm or thinner.
  7. Spread the filling over the dough, form a roll and cut it into buns 4 - 5 cm wide. Do similar manipulations with the rest of the dough.
  8. Place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment and let them stand for 20 minutes - they should increase in volume. After this, they need to be greased with an egg, slightly beaten with a fork.
  9. The approximate baking time for such baked goods at a temperature of 180 ºC ranges from 20 to 30 minutes.

    You can make many delicious desserts from poppy seeds. In addition to everyone’s favorite pies and bagels, these can be cookies, cakes and pies. Poppy seeds can be safely combined with fruit filling, as well as with spices such as vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom and many others. And of course, we must not forget about the classic combination of raisins and poppy seeds.

    To prepare shortbread cookies with poppy seeds, we need premium wheat flour, edible poppy seeds, and sugar. You also need to prepare two fresh chicken eggs, baking powder for the dough and the main component that makes the dough shortbread - margarine in the amount of one pack.

    Load almost a glass of sugar, one third of a glass of poppy seeds into the blender grinder glass, beat in the chicken eggs and pour out a packet of baking powder for the dough.

    Heat a stick of margarine in the microwave (2 minutes) and add all the melted margarine to the grinder.

    Turn on the blender for 5-8 seconds at least 5-6 times. This allows you to thoroughly beat the eggs and dissolve the sugar, mixing it with the rest of the ingredients.

    Pour the liquid components of the shortcrust pastry into a deep plastic bowl and begin adding flour in small portions. We change the blender attachment to a submersible one with a small knife. We begin to mix the dough, gradually adding flour.

    Do not overheat the device in thick dough. The last portion of flour can be kneaded by hand. If the finished dough does not stick to your hands at all, this is a sign of a good kneading. You can roll flat cakes from this dough and “cut out” round cakes with a thin glass. Children love it when cookies are cut out with special molds in the shape of animals, fish, etc. Cooking helps them learn about the world. It is advisable to place the finished dough in plastic and place it in the refrigerator for two hours.

    In our case, pieces were simply pinched off from the mass of dough and rolled into balls. Then the balls need to be flattened and placed on a baking sheet. The dough is quite fatty and the baking sheet is greased with a minimal amount of vegetable oil. It is necessary to leave gaps between the poppy seed cookies. Bake the products in a hot oven at 180 degrees for 30 minutes.

    I think everyone with a sweet tooth, and not only, would not mind enjoying delicious crispy pastries. I suggest making cookies with poppy seeds. This is an excellent treat for a sweet table, a light snack for work, on the road, or in nature. Goes well with a cup of aromatic tea or coffee for breakfast. Both children and adults will enjoy crunching these cookies. The cooking process is quite simple, and every housewife can find the ingredients. So let's get down to business.

    Take the following products.

    Choose a comfortable deep plate. Sift wheat flour into it. Add sugar and baking powder to flour. Mix all products thoroughly. To do this, use a kitchen whisk.

    Do not take butter from the freezer. It should not be very hard and not very soft. You can also use margarine. Add to flour mixture.

    Since we need to get shortbread dough, kneading must be done very quickly so that the butter does not melt. Using your hands, quickly rub the butter into the flour mixture until it forms coarse crumbs. In this case, it is very good if you have kitchen appliances with which you can do this step.

    Gather the dough into a ball. Wrap with cling film and place in the freezer for 20-30 minutes.

    Remove from the freezer and place on parchment paper that needs to be lightly dusted with flour. Cover with another sheet of parchment and roll out into a layer. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top. Using a rolling pin, press the poppy seeds into the dough.

    Trim the edges. Cut the layer into rectangular shapes. You can use cookie cutters. Place on a baking sheet with parchment. Place in a hot oven at 180 degrees. Bake for 15-25 minutes.
