1. First, cook large onions.

3. At the end, the still white chrysanthemum can be painted. For red or pink chrysanthemums, use fresh beetroot juice and dip the onion chrysanthemum tips down (or whole, if desired). The intensity of staining depends on the duration of exposure in the juice - check every 10 minutes to get the right color.

To make a chrysanthemum, you need a small bulb. At your discretion, you can use a white or red onion. A more beautiful flower is obtained from a small bulb. The thickness of the onion walls also affects the quality of the flower. Petals from a thin-walled bulb are more elegant.
1. First, clean the bulb, wash, dry. Cut about half a centimeter from the top and bottom of the bulb.
2. Using a thin sharp knife, cut the onion almost into two parts, without cutting about half a centimeter to the end. It is best to make an incision on the upper side, in the place where the feather grows.
3. Make another similar cut, perpendicular to the first.
4. Next, cut the onion into as many pieces as possible. Be careful, because with insufficiently deep cuts, the flower will not bloom well, and, conversely, with very deep cuts, the flower will simply fall apart.
5. Now the bulb must be completely immersed in water room temperature. Depending on the type of onion, it will take from 40 minutes to several hours for the bulbous chrysanthemum to bloom.
6. Such a flower can be painted with beetroot juice by dipping the entire flower or the tips of its petals. Any other food coloring can be used for coloring.

Delicate flower from a white bulb.

1. We clean, wash, dry the white onion. Try to clean the bulb so as not to cut off the root seal.
2. Throughout the bulb, we make four or five cuts two or three layers deep.
3. We bend the extreme layers, these will be the flower petals. We remove the internal incised layers with a knife. Since the petals are brittle, everything must be done with extreme caution.
4. We make the following cuts in a checkerboard pattern. And we repeat the steps from the previous paragraph: we bend the first layer, we eliminate the inner one.
5. Repeat these steps until you reach the middle of the bulb.
6. After that, the bulb must be placed in hot water for a few seconds.
7. Then put the onion in a marinade of water, vinegar and sugar for ten minutes.

8. Optionally, the flower can be painted food coloring. We take out the flower from the marinade, shake off excess liquid, straighten the petals and decorate the dish.

1. Cut off a piece of stem about 15 centimeters long.
2. With a sharp knife, we make longitudinal cuts no more than 1.5 centimeters wide.

Now make a cut perpendicular to this, and then a few more. The more of them, the more fluffy the flower will turn out.


Pour water at room temperature into a bowl, lower the workpiece into it, let the onion soak in the liquid for 40-120 minutes. During this time, the petals will "bloom", and you will succeed beautiful flower in carving technique.

The time for soaking onions in water depends on the variety. Some will begin to “bloom” in as little as 40 minutes, while for others, the waiting time for this process will be longer.


Now soak the workpiece in beetroot juice, and you will get such a wonderful flower.

How to cut a delicious carrot decoration?

To harden the carrots and open the scales, place them in ice water for 15 minutes.
