Culinary masterpieces made from onions. Onion chrysanthemum for decorating dishes with your own hands

Great option registration festive table will be a composition of chrysanthemums, complemented by green cabbage leaves.

To make a chrysanthemum you will need a small onion and a knife with a thin blade. How less vegetable, the more beautiful the flower will turn out. It is desirable that the walls of the bulb are quite thick. This will allow the petals to fully open. The color of the onion does not matter; you can take a red or white vegetable.

In order to do chrysanthemum from onions , you need to do the following steps:

  1. The bulb should be carefully peeled, being careful not to damage the integrity of the walls. After this, you need to carefully cut off the top and bottom of the vegetable at a distance of 0.5 cm from the beginning.
  2. Next, you need to cut the onion in half, but you don’t need to cut it completely, leaving 0.5 cm from the end. To do this, it is advisable to use a comfortable knife with a thin blade. The cut should start from the top edge of the bulb, that is, the root should remain intact.
  3. Then you need to make the same cut, it should be perpendicular to the first one.
  4. The number of cuts can be any. You need to cut the onion while you can, because a large number of lines will make the flower more magnificent. It is necessary to control the depth of the cuts. If you make them too deep, the future flower will fall apart in your hands. However, cutting too small will prevent it from unraveling.
  5. The resulting workpiece must be placed in a container with water. room temperature. In this case, the vegetable should be completely hidden in the liquid. You need to leave the flower in this position for some time. During this period it should open completely. The time for the flower to “bloom” depends on the type of onion chosen. Some vegetables need 40 minutes, while others need to sit in water for more than an hour.
  6. The advantage of onions is that they can be easily colored by strong dyes. The most common natural dye is beet juice, which will give the petals a pleasant pink color. In order to get this juice at home, you need to squeeze the grated vegetable through a cloth. The dyeing time depends on the desired shade.

In addition to beets, you can use berry juices, cherry nectar or blackcurrant juice are ideal. The yellow color can be obtained using a saffron solution. The flower can be painted completely or the petals can be dipped into the dye. The variety of colors allows you to combine chrysanthemums of different shades with each other

If you add it to water Apple vinegar and salt, then the flower will also be pickled and quite tasty.

We take the bulb out of the water and begin to straighten the petals a little with our hands. Try not to pull too hard to avoid tearing it off. Do it carefully.

Step 2. Color our lily.
You can dye with natural and artificial dyes. Natural dyes are beets and turmeric. They give pink and Orange color. Onions colored with beet juice come out very beautiful color. And the lily turns out just like a real one.
To color the flower, pour 1-2 tablespoons of beet juice. You can get juice like this: grate the beets and squeeze them lightly. We take the onion out of our water and move the leaves through the juice. Then we put it back into the water and add juice there. And let it lie there for 10 minutes.
