How to make coconut milk at home

Increasingly, people are faced with dishes based on exotic fruits. However, few people know that high-quality milk can be obtained from coconut. The liquid has a light taste and pleasant aroma. The product is used as an alternative to animal milk. It is also used for baking. In Europe and Asian countries, first and second courses, sweet and spicy sauces are made on the basis of coconut milk. Also, using this product in everyday life, you enrich the body with a mass of useful elements and vitamins.

Method number 1. Sublimated coconut milk

  1. Purchase a package of shredded coconut. When choosing, make an acceptance for the naturalness of the product, it should not contain any sweet additives and spices. Most often, the bulk composition is sold in supermarkets on a common shelf with baking goods.
  2. Based on the mass of the acquired chips, 300 gr. composition it will turn out to prepare 550 ml. coconut milk. Pour the required amount of product into the blender. Calculate how much coconut milk you can consume during the day, as the shelf life of the product in the refrigerator does not exceed 24 hours.
  3. For 300 gr. coconut flakes are taken 600 ml. filtered water. Pour the liquid into the enamel saucepan, based on how much milk you want to get. Boil the required amount of water. Then add boiling water to the container with coconut flakes. Mix the ingredients well.
  4. Cover the pan with a lid and turn on the burner at full power. Achieve a uniform composition. For safety precautions, hold the lid of the instrument tightly. Due to the high water temperature, it may open unexpectedly.
  5. Take a sieve, if necessary, cover it with gauze, strain the composition into a suitable container. Milk should not contain coconut particles. Take a piece of gauze and wring it out well. Strain the mixture again if necessary.
  6. Store coconut milk in a glass container with a tight lid. Pour the composition from the container into a jar, send it to the refrigerator. With prolonged settling, the milk begins to delaminate, the fat separates from the water, forming cream. Shake before use.

Method number 2. Coconut Milk

  1. Purchase the required amount of coconut flakes. Mix with water or soy milk in equal proportions.
  2. Combine the same amount of chips and liquid in a saucepan. Send a heat-resistant container to a slow fire. Simmer the mixture for 4 minutes, avoiding the appearance of bubbles.
  3. After that, pour the composition into a sieve with a gauze lining. Strain the milk into a suitable container, wring out the cloth with chips well. The product is ready to use.
  4. Store milk in a cool place in a glass container. Pre-wrap the jar with thick paper, pour liquid into it and close the lid tightly. In this state, the shelf life of the treat is no more than 45 hours. The product can also be frozen.

Method number 3. Fresh coconut milk

  1. Grate the flesh of the coconut into a suitable container, then send it to the food processor. Pour in the required amount of boiling water, based on the proportions: 2 parts of the liquid account for 1 part of the raw material.
  2. Close the lid of the dish, grind the mixture until smooth. You can use a blender if you wish. Next, throw the product on a sieve, then pour the milk into a glass container. Apply at your discretion.

Method number 4. Whole coconut milk

  1. Purchase a whole nut at the grocery market. When choosing, focus on heavy specimens with the presence of coconut water. The integrity of the 3 dark holes on the nut must not be compromised.
  2. To open a coconut, place the fruit on the kitchen cutting table. Hold the product with one hand, take the knife in the second. Using the point, cut the area around the eye. You can also hit the fruit with a knife in one place until the shell cracks.
  3. Follow the steps until the cover peels off, which can be easily removed. To prevent negative consequences, use a knife with a well-sharpened blade. A large tool for carving meat or fish is suitable.
  4. The coconut can also be opened in a different way. To do this, wrap the fruit with a cotton towel, place it on a flat surface (cutting board, kitchen table, etc.).
  5. For convenience, you must first drill a hole in the shell, drain the coconut liquid, then proceed with the procedure. Take a hammer, hit the eye sockets. Manipulations are carried out until the nut breaks into halves.
  6. After opening the nut, you need to make sure that it is fresh. Determine the quality of coconut flesh by smell and appearance. Raw materials should not be colorless, dry and have foreign odors. Pour coconut water straight into a blender.
  7. Extract all the pulp of the nut in a way convenient for you. Remove the dark structure that looks like a melon peel. Send the resulting slurry to a blender.
  8. Achieve a homogeneous mass by mixing the pulp and coconut water. Then pour the mass into a glass, enjoy. If desired, coconut milk is combined with the pulp of citrus fruits.

When choosing coconut flakes, give preference to instances without the addition of impurities. If possible, determine how dry it is. The juicier the product, the tastier the milk will be. When buying a fresh walnut in the market, rely on its heavy weight and relatively small size. Externally evaluate if the coconut has any mechanical defects. Listen to see if there is water in it.
