Ingredients:

  1. 6 glasses of water.
  2. 4 cups finely chopped coconut or shavings
  3. 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  4. Vanilla extract. (not necessary)
  5. Salt. (not necessary)

Optional equipment:

  1. Blender.
  2. Bowl.
  3. Gauze.
  4. Colander.
  5. Glass jar with a lid.

Cooking method:

Punch finely chopped coconut with boiling water in a blender

  • Place a colander on the prepared bowl. Cover it with several layers of gauze and set aside.
  • Boil filtered water in a saucepan or kettle. Pour 4 cups of boiling water into the blender, put in the finely chopped walnut and simmer for 4-5 minutes until you get a well-blended thick mixture.

Drain the mixture in a colander

  • Drain the resulting nut mixture into a cheesecloth-lined colander and let cool slightly while the coconut milk strains through the cheesecloth.

Squeeze coconut milk through cheesecloth

  • When the coconut paste has cooled down a bit, wring it out well with your hands, collecting the milky liquid in a bowl.

Put the mass back into the blender and add boiling water

  • Transfer the squeezed mass to a blender, add two more cups of boiling water to it. And again, punch for about 4-5 minutes. Drain the mixture in a colander and squeeze.
  • Rinse the blender bowl, pour the squeezed coconut milk into it and mix well. If desired, you can sweeten it with honey, add vanilla or salt.

  • Pour the milk mixture into a glass jar, close the lid and refrigerate. Freshly made coconut milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.

  • Do not worry if the milk separates during storage. With prolonged cooling, a layer of oil may rise to the surface. Remove the jar from the refrigerator, let stand at room temperature, then shake well while stirring the mixture.

How to make coconut flour from leftover nut pulp

  • Preheat oven to 75°C
  • Lay parchment paper on a baking sheet, lay a thin layer of squeezed coconut flesh on it and place in a preheated oven. Dry the pulp in the oven for 4 to 5 hours.
  • If you do not want to occupy the oven, just dry the pulp on a baking sheet for a day.
