How to cook a pie in a slow cooker?

Ingredients:

  • For the test:
  • Flour – 300g
  • Milk – 250 ml
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Yeast – 1 pack.
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tsp.

For filling:

  • Minced meat – 300 g
  • Onion – 1 pc.
  • Salt, pepper - to taste

Mix all the ingredients for the dough in a bowl and knead them into a stiff dough. Let the resulting dough rest under the film for 30 minutes. This is necessary for the yeast to start working and for the dough to rise a little. Peel and finely chop the onion. Mix chopped onion, minced meat, salt, spices and 2 tablespoons of water in a separate bowl until smooth. After the dough has risen, divide it into two parts, one of which will be equal to approximately 70% of the entire dough, and the second 30%. Grease the bottom of the multicooker with oil and place a large half of the dough on it, and smooth it out properly. Place the resulting minced meat on the dough and cover it with the other half of the dough, pressing the edges of the two halves together and pinch them properly so that they do not separate. If desired, you can make a small pattern around the edges of the dough. Turn the multicooker to “baking” mode and cook the pie for one hour. After an hour has passed, you need to take out the pie and turn it over so that the top part is also properly baked. The pie can be served either hot or cold.

Meat pie in a slow cooker according to this recipe stays fresh for several days, so it’s okay if you don’t have time to eat it hot. By the way, a pie with meat filling can easily replace sandwiches at work - both tasty and nutritious! I have a Yummy YMC-502 multicooker in my kitchen, but the mince pie recipe is suitable for any model with a “baking” function.

Cooking method

  1. First we prepare the dough. We collect all the ingredients to make it convenient to work.

  2. We heat the milk a little in the microwave, it should be slightly warm, not hot, this is very important! Melt the butter too. Pour milk, melted butter into a bowl, add yeast, sunflower oil and salt. Beat a little with a whisk.

  3. Knead thoroughly until a soft dough forms. The dough should be covered with a waffle towel or cling film, hidden in a warm place and allowed to rise for 40-60 minutes.

  4. Now let's start filling. Grind the meat in a meat grinder, prepare the onion, salt and spices.

  5. Combine the minced meat with finely chopped onion, salt and allspice, mix thoroughly, then add water or broth to the resulting mass.

  6. We carefully and diligently beat with our hands. The minced meat should be soft in consistency.

  7. Cover the bottom of the multicooker crosswise with strips of parchment, leaving the edges long enough to comfortably remove the cake, and grease it with sunflower oil. This trick with parchment will help us easily remove and turn the cake over to the other side.

When the dough has risen a little, you need to knead it with your hands. Then separate 2/3 of the dough, roll it out and place it on the bottom of the multicooker. Roll out to form sides 3cm high. Place the rest of the dough aside for a while.

Distribute the meat filling evenly over the dough.

  8. Roll out the remaining dough to a thickness of 5 mm and cover the filling so that all edges of the pie are covered. Pinch the bottom and top parts of the dough together.

  9. At the first stage of baking a meat pie in a multicooker, turn on the “warm up” function for exactly 30 minutes, while keeping the lid closed.

  10. After heating, without opening the lid, immediately turn on the “baking” function and cook the meat pie for 1 hour.

  11. After the time has passed, open the multicooker and carefully turn the pie over to the other side. It won't be difficult to do this with parchment strips. We take out the pie by their ends and turn them over onto the same strips.

  12. Place the cake back into the bowl and bake on the other side for another 20 minutes, waiting for the multicooker to signal that the baking is ready.

  13. I usually cool pies, cakes and casseroles in a steaming pan - it’s very convenient! I did exactly the same thing with a meat pie baked in a slow cooker.

  14. The pie should be served hot, and it is, of course, most delicious on the day it is baked. But it will remain fresh for several days, keep this in mind!

Mince pie in a slow cooker exceeds expectations from home baking. It is soft, juicy, tasty and very filling. Try changing the fillings, and you will understand that such pastries are worthy of your table! Bon appetit!

Knead the dough with your hands and divide it into 2 unequal parts. Most of it is rolled out to a thickness of 1 cm, transferred to a multicooker pan, lifting it along the sides.

Then spread the mashed potato filling,

minced meat filling on top,

spread a layer of puree, sprinkle with grated cheese, cover with a second rolled sheet, connect the edges, brushing with egg.

The product is allowed to rise again, after which the function is set to “Baking” and baked until done.
