Cut the onion into rings, chop the garlic. Pour olive oil into a deep frying pan. Lightly fry the onion and garlic. Pour in a can of tomatoes. If the tomatoes are whole, mash them with a spoon. Simmer a little, then pour in the broth and tomato juice, salt and pepper, sprinkle with dried basil.
