Before you start describing why recipes for salad with mozzarella are remarkable, it’s worth clarifying what kind of cheese it is (what if someone doesn’t know yet?)). In its classic form, as it is produced in its homeland, Campania, Italy, mozzarella is a rennet cheese made from cow's milk. There are different varieties of it, differing in the speed of ripening, softness, and amount of salt.

The five most commonly used ingredients in mozzarella salad recipes are:

The shape of this cheese is remarkable: it is rolled into balls and stored in brine to keep it fresh longer. The sizes of the balls can also be different, from large to small. In addition to the spherical shape, mozzarella can be braided. Round cheese, in the form of balls, is usually used in salads. If they are small, they can be taken whole, but larger ones should be cut into medallions or plates.

The elasticity of cheese may also differ from variety to variety. Even the same type of cheese from different manufacturers will have a different taste and hardness. However, mozzarella feels great in salads in any form. It classically goes perfectly with fresh and sun-dried tomatoes, herbs, kale, cucumbers, peppers, arugula, sesame seeds, and nuts.

Vegetarians can safely mix a variety of fruits into a salad with this cheese: persimmon, grapes, figs, peach, apple, pear, plum. It also goes well with sausages.

Five of the lowest calorie mozzarella salad recipes:

Salad with mozzarella cheese differs from salads with other types of lactic acid product in its softness and lightness. Indeed, this cheese is more piquant. Used mainly for making pizzas, savory pies and pancakes.

Mozzarella, like a hard cheese, is more expensive. Has excellent characteristics. The most important quality is not to crumple when in contact with other ingredients and not to burn if cooked in the oven. Mozzarella can be identified by its color. It is somewhat similar to feta cheese: it is not so salty and has a whitish tint. Compared to other hard cheeses, this type is not as salty. It tastes good and is very tender.

For salads, mozzarella is crushed in different ways. If we talk about Greek salad, then the cheese is chopped into cubes. When using it in puff pastry or mixed dishes, grate it. In any case, the cutting form in no way detracts from the cheese’s excellent taste characteristics.

Based on its consistency, mozzarella can be classified as a soft cheese. It is widely used in cooking due to its relatively low melting point, which allows it to be used in an equally traditional Italian dish - pizza.

There are many varieties of mozzarella. For example, there is mozzarella with bacon or smoked mozzarella. This cheese is usually sold not in heads, but in small bags, where it is stored cut or already grated. Such a bag must contain a certain amount of brine, thanks to which the cheese does not spoil.

The taste of mozzarella is simply amazing. The cheese is a little fresh, and at the same time very tender. This can be explained by the special preparation technology and the specific qualities of buffalo milk. It contains much more nutrients, proteins and vitamins than cow milk.

Unfortunately, mozzarella is not a long-lasting cheese. Modern preservation methods make it possible to extend the life of this cheese, however, real mozzarella is stored for 24 hours. Trying one-day-old cheese is only possible in some regions of Italy. At home, it is recommended to store purchased mozzarella in a special brine for no more than a week, and without brine it will barely last two days.

Thus, mozzarella is a product that you should try at least once in your life. And if you like this unusual cheese, you can make a lot of different dishes from it.

And it's not just pizza. There are many recipes based on this wonderful cheese. And here, by the way, are the most delicious recipes for salads with mozzarella.
