The hands themselves will reach out to mold something like that out of them, certainly in a child. Who knows, something amazing and unique might turn out. The main thing is not to limit your imagination to given limits.

Gifts of autumn - a creation made from natural materials

When, if not in the fall, can you make any crafts for the kindergarten or just for yourself on the theme “autumn” with your own hands from vegetables, seeds, dried fruit leaves. There is more than enough material for creativity. The main thing is imagination, a creative spirit and some free time that you can spend with your child doing a pleasant and useful activity.

Here is a small master - a class of a wonderful creation called “Gifts of Autumn”. It is very simple and discreet, but it contains everything that this generous time of year offers us. You don’t have to take the same autumn “gifts”; you can just open your bins and see what you have, what seeds, fruits, nuts.

Having understood the principle by which this wonderful work was made, you can create something of your own, unique and beautiful. The appearance of this design can be called a “floating thicket”.

Its idea is that a thicket is floating in the air, and from it, like from a cornucopia, flows everything that nature has prepared for us. Let's see how you can make such an interesting thing.

To create a masterpiece we will prepare:

  • any beautiful basket.
  • some foam rubber or just newspaper to fill the basket.
  • braided aluminum wire.
  • paper cup, low.
  • old wooden clothespins or dry twigs without bark for decorating the cup.
  • hot glue.
  • any gifts of autumn: pine cones, seeds, nuts, seeds, acorns, dried flowers, etc. Whatever you find.
  • jute rope.

Let's start creating:

From vegetables

What autumn is truly rich in is delicious and healthy vegetables. But they can also be used for purposes other than their intended purpose. From salt dough

Another type of creativity that is very loved by children is modeling from salt dough. This material is similar to plasticine, just as flexible, but even softer and pleasant to work with.

Here is the recipe for salted play dough:

  1. Take flour and salt in equal parts and mix thoroughly.
  2. Gradually add a little water and rub the dough. It needs to be brought to the consistency of soft plasticine.

The dough is ready, you can start creating. If there is any dough left after modeling, you can store it in a bag, tightly wrapped.

For the autumn competition in kindergarten, you can use salt dough. Here is a description of one wonderful craft made from salt dough, using natural materials, everything that autumn is rich in.

Autumn craft idea #1

Salt dough mosaic.

Mosaic pieces are like a construction set. You can lay out any objects from them. Including autumn paintings.

DIY salt dough mosaic recipe.

1 glass of salt (finely ground). 1 glass of flour. Mix and add water (pour the dumplings into the center of the slide, gradually stirring). We achieve a thick, tight consistency (as for rolling out dumplings).

Divide the dough into portions. Add to each lump food coloring(dilute powder dye in a teaspoon with water and mix into the dough). We get several multi-colored lumps of dough.

We wrap each colored lump tightly (without air) in a plastic bag or cling film. Place in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

Take it out of the refrigerator and roll each flat cake into a layer 1-2 cm thick (more is possible). Cut into cubes, diamonds, rectangles, triangles. And we dry it (you can do it in the oven, you can do it in the sun, or just under the bed).

And we get a mosaic that can be easily glued using PVA glue or hot glue from a gun.

After completing the work, the entire mosaic picture can (and even should) be sprayed with regular HAIR SPRAY. And the colors will become bright, richness of color and a slight shine will appear.

The gaps between the mosaics can be filled with mortar- for example, dilute plaster with water and spread it on the mosaic, so that the liquid plaster is poured into all the cracks between the parts. And immediately, while the plaster has dried, wipe the entire surface of the mosaic with a damp cloth, clean those places where the plaster got on the drawing itself.

For this purpose, gypsum plaster from the store or mortar for sealing joints when laying bathroom tiles are suitable.

The background for the mosaic can be a canvas (or a piece of plywood) filled with a background of oil paint. Place a salt dough mosaic in the shape of a maple leaf on top of the oil painting (attach it to a hot glue gun). Dilute the gypsum solution to the consistency of sour cream, add food coloring (yellow or red) to it so that the color of the solution matches the shades of our mosaic. And carefully apply the solution to the mosaic with a thick brush, immediately wiping the surface, clearing the plaster at the top of the picture. In one hand there is a brush, in the other hand there is a cloth for grouting plaster.

After the plaster seams have dried, we cover the painting with HAIRSPray so that the color becomes bright again and the same shine appears on the mosaic as on the oil background of our autumn painting.

Other material

for autumn crafts using mosaic technique

Autumn mosaic made of ceramic chipped tiles.

You can use ceramic tiles with marbled patterns. Chop it up special forceps(you need to pinch off pieces of tiles under a towel so that the fragments do not fly around the room or hurt your eyes). That is, you need the tile itself to be inside the bowl, which you covered with a towel, put your hands under the fabric and there, quietly, blindly, by touch, bite off the fragments with wire cutters). Before doing this, you can hit the tile a couple of times with a hammer (also under a towel), and then bite off the fragments with wire cutters.

Autumn mosaic made from eggshells.

We cook eggs in food coloring - just like for Easter. We clean the colored shells and lay out a picture of an autumn landscape.

Autumn mosaic from a broken glass vase, malachite.

It’s very good if you use a broken VASE, with beautiful iridescent sides - where green color turns into yellow, blue, red (there are such vases). And if you break it and pinch it into pieces with tongs, you can fold a maple leaf like this (as in the photo below).

Autumn mosaic made of plastic kitchen boards.

Nowadays there are a lot of kitchen cutting boards made of plastic on sale. You can buy a red board, yellow, green. And either cut the pieces with a jigsaw (first long strips), and then use wire cutters to bite these strips into fragments different forms. And you will get a lot good stuff for a mosaic craft in an autumn theme. Everything is simple and cheap with your own hands.

Autumn mosaic craft made from bottle glass.

Here in the photo below is an idea for crafts in the form of autumn leaves made from cement mortar and bottle glass. We break the bottle with a hammer - and under a towel (so that the fragments do not fly away) we bite off pieces of glass with wire cutters. We take a sheet of tin and bend it in a semicircle (we fix this bend with wire wrapping). Apply thick cement mortar in an even layer. We trim the borders of the cement cake so that it resembles a leaf in shape. And until the cement sets, we press pieces of glass into it with the side that is convex and does not contain sharp corners. We wipe the surface of the glass with a cloth, clearing it of any cement mortar that has fallen into it. Waiting for it to dry.

You can use smooth glass (not bottle glass) to simply cut it with a glass cutter into even strips, which you can then prick into diamond shapes with tongs. From rhombuses of the same size, you can lay out a pattern like the one in the photo below.

These are the ideas from autumn crafts package No. 1.

Now let's move on to the second set of ideas.

Autumn craft idea No. 2

Autumn crafts made from felt.

Colored felt has already won a place in the hearts of not only adult needlewomen, but also small children. Now it’s not just mothers on maternity leave who make felt crafts. Quite often the school group “Skillful Hands” teaches children the basics of sewing using felt toys.

The simplest autumn craft made from felt is to cut out the outlines of leaves and tie them to a garland or curtain.

You can buy a set of colored felt by ordering it online (cheaper from China, on the AliExpress website - photo below). Or buy in separate sheets in craft stores - but this is already more expensive... I recently asked the price in a store - one sheet of 30 by 30 cm costs the same as three packs of ice cream. It's cheaper in China.

The most simple crafts from felt - this means cutting out the outlines of a leaf and using simple stitches, sewing such a leaf to a background canvas, draped in a hoop.

Or you can build a floral boutonniere like this from leaves (photo below) - you can fasten layers of autumn leaves from felt with THREAD or GLUE from a glue gun. If you attach a pin on the back side, we will get an elegant brooch for your autumn coat or hat.

And here’s another idea - in the photo below - an idea for a beautiful autumn craft made from felt - a whole felt painting made with your own hands. Leaves, a tree branch and a cute fox are cut from felt fabric. We take a picture frame and cover its bottom with fabric (or wallpaper background). We sew or glue a tree branch and a rope on which felt flags with the letters “AUTUMN” will hang. Then we sew a fox (or an owl, as an option) - from the remnants of the fabric from the fox we cut leaves, from another felt, also of autumn flowers, we cut more different leaves. Using a glue gun, we attach everything in a chaotic manner to the lower frame of the picture. We attach the sleeping fox with glue or thread.

A felt fox can be completely different. Here are several pattern options to choose from.

You can cut a donut ring from felt (or other fabric). Fill it with padding polyester to make the donut-wreath plump. And decorate it with felt leaves. Let's hang a mushroom, or an owl, or a squirrel.

The ring base for the wreath can be cut from regular corrugated cardboard - from an old TV box or a large family pizza. And using a glue gun or thread, sew felt leaves onto this round cardboard donut. This will also make a beautiful bright craft - autumn wreath.

And here is a masterpiece wreath made from felt with your own hands. The owls are simply wonderful - all covered in sequins.

The base for the wreath can be purchased at the store - they sell foam rings for craft wreaths. Then you need to wrap it with threads (as in the photo below). Tie a twig to a wreath and place a bird on it (birds made from feathers are sold in home decor stores). And twist autumn roses from felt.

Here is a simple master class on how to create a felt rose with your own hands. Cut out a spiral in the shape of a snail. And we begin to twist the rose, fixing the twist with threads in the place where we hold the rosebud with our fingers.

And if the felt spiral has uneven edges - in the form of petals, then we will get a rose with round petals. By changing the shape of the edge of the spiral, we will obtain new shapes of felt flowers. For example, if the edges of the spiral are cut into fringes (scars), then we will get an aster flower.

You will find more ideas about flower crafts in my article. Many techniques for making paper flowers are suitable for DIY flower crafts made from felt (felt is the same paper, only a little thicker and softer).

Craft idea #3

Autumn wreaths.

Autumn crafts such as wreaths made from natural materials look very beautiful. Especially if this material is painted in autumn colors - yellow, red, orange, ocher. Ordinary pine cones bloom with all the colors of autumn - and it seems that the wreath is made of autumn flowers. A very simple craft.

Cut out a ring from packaging cardboard. We paint the cones collected in the forest with gouache and spray them with hairspray so that the paint shines and sticks to the cones (does not stain your hands). Now we take a glue gun and attach our pine cones to a cardboard ring as the base for the wreath. We get a non-standard autumn craft that you wouldn’t be ashamed to take to a competition.

You can twist an autumn wreath from willow twigs. Cut willow twigs must be kept in water so that they retain their flexibility. I have already described how to twist them into a wreath in a separate article. On such a willow ring you can attach physalis flowers-boxes, clusters of bright rowan berries, and beautiful red leaves (aspen has very dense red shiny leaves). To prevent our wreath from withering over time, you can dip all the elements - both the leaves and fruits of physalis and rowan - in melted paraffin from a candle. The waxy texture will seal all the juices of the plant and preserve their color and juiciness for several years.

In autumn wreath crafts, grass panicles, velvety white sage leaves, and rose hips look very beautiful.

You can make an autumn composition not in the form of a wreath, but as a bouquet of leaves and herbs. Here in the photo below we see an example of such an autumn craft.

  • We stuff birch logs onto a wide board.
  • WITH reverse side chock on nails bent in the letter G, we fasten a piece of iron mesh-chain-link.
  • And onto this mesh we attach bunches of leaves and herbs with pieces of thin wire or threads.
  • On the same metal mesh we attach a wide ribbon of dense fabric - burlap or tarpaulin.

We tie a bow and hang this autumn craft on the door or facade of the house. It looks very elegant and beautiful.

Autumn paper wreaths

with your own hands.

You can implement the same wreath ideas from ordinary colored paper. Gather a group of children - give them scissors and let them cut out the outlines of the autumn leaves you drew along the contour. When a large pile of paper foliage grows on the table, you can start assembling the wreath. Yet again cut out a base ring for the wreath from packaging cardboard and attach our leaves to drops of glue in an elegant, colorful, chaotic order.

You can cut out leaves from cardboard and apply a stamped design on them. This is already more difficult - you need to use a smooth thin object - using pressure - to apply veins to cardboard leaves. A non-writing ballpoint pen is suitable as a tool.

You can choose interesting color schemes for your fall craft - it doesn't have to be a yellow-red-orange cloud of foliage. You can choose silver, burgundy, purple, bronze shades - in a cooler color scheme (as in the photo below).

You can also decorate a paper wreath with roses twisted from a paper snail spiral - according to the same principle as we made roses from felt in the photo above in the same article. You can also make roses using any other paper techniques. This site has a separate article about all the techniques for creating roses with your own hands -

Autumn paper crafts

Using the QUILING technique.

Here in the photo below we see the autumn wreath again. It is made from twisted paper modules. Each element of this flower is a twisted strip of paper. Round paper rolls are given any shape - oval, teardrop-shaped, triangular - and whole bouquets of autumn flowers are made from these different shapes.

Here is a beautiful lace craft using the quilling technique - an autumn oak leaf with acorns also made from rolled paper.

As a beginner craftsman, you can make a small autumn card using the quilling technique.

Making a large quilled maple leaf with your own hands is painstaking work.

You will first need to draw (or print out) a template of the veins of the maple leaf. Then lay out long strips of paper along each vein. Each strip goes along the selected vein - it reaches the edge of the vein (a pin is stuck in this place) - the strip goes around the pin, bends over it and sticks to itself - a double strip is obtained. And this is repeated with each vein of the future leaf. And then each compartment is filled with shaped twist modules.

As the compartments fill with paper rolls, the pins can be removed. And stick it in the place where we want to press the glue-coated twist so that its glue side is pressed against the wall of the vein.

You can collect a whole autumn bouquet of autumn leaves made with your own hands using the quilling technique.

Package of ideas No. 5

Pictures on leaves.

(Master Class).

But here is an idea that I like because it has a huge variety of ideas for implementation. Here we see an amazing work - an owl painted on an ordinary autumn leaf. The artist’s painstaking work results in a beautiful autumn craft.

Even if you are not a very big artist you can still make something like this interesting works– paintings on leaves are something even a child can do. It depends on what to draw. All children can draw eyes and a nose. All that remains is to show him how to make brush strokes - so that they look like feathers.

You can turn one single autumn leaf into an amazing autumn craft with your own hands.

Here are a few simple ideas how to decorate leaves with paints - for beginner artists.. Oak Leaf could become a peacock feather. Simple drawing. Nothing complicated - you just need to first think about how you will combine the colors - you can use blue, turquoise, green and yellow - or choose a different color scheme for the peacock feather - shades - pink, purple and purple.

You don't have to know how to draw to turn a maple leaf into a painting. Butterflies are a simple symmetry of the wing. You can simply knead a bright spiral of rich colors.

Or, of course, you can be bold and take a swing at a picture with a character (since there is now a fashion for owls, you can paint them in different types and angles. It is not necessary to draw an owl as in the photograph - you can have cartoon owls. The main thing is to scatter the feathers in different directions - with a brush, make such strokes in a circle from the head, and strokes in a circle from each eye - you will get a disheveled owlet. All other parts of the owl that are difficult for you to draw the plumage can be hidden in a hollow and wrapped in a scarf. Cunning and simple. Anyone can make this craft with their own hands.. And you will feel how interesting it is. And how nice it is to show this work to friends. Feel like an artist of a new magical reality.

Where to get ideas from. There are a lot of ideas around us. They are on social networks in communities of owl lovers, or communities of gouache paintings... Or you can find a picture in your child’s children’s book. This will serve as an idea for painting an autumn leaf.

For example, you found this owl.

Take a maple leaf. And a blank sheet of paper. Trace the maple leaf on paper with a pencil. We cut out the outlined silhouette - a hole in the shape of a maple leaf remains on the sheet. We attach this template with a hole to our picture with paper clips. And we get ready-made template– for a future craft, a painting on an autumn leaf.

Now all that remains is to take gouache, and step by step, with your own hands, transfer this picture onto a maple leaf. When everything is dry, spray the craft with HAIR SPRAY (to make the colors brighter and the sheet to sparkle with rich color).

And then, in order to preserve the painting for a long time, we dip the sheet into melted paraffin or candle wax. We quickly dip it in and quickly take it out by the tail and hang it on a thread to dry. We get a craft-picture that does not wither or fade over the years.

Package of ideas No. 6

Crafts-paintings

from leaves, herbs and flowers.

From herbs and flowers you can lay out beautiful crafts. The main thing is to prepare the picture in advance - draw the outline of the future landscape with a pencil (with faint lines) on a sheet of paper. Then use light watercolors to paint the sky, the reflections of the water reflecting this sky. Then place bridges cut from long wide leaves in the right place. And begin to painstakingly lay out the wooded hills - twig by twig. And then at the very end lay out the foreground of the picture - tall grasses and flowers to the left and right of the bridge line. Beautiful picturesque craft-picture. But it requires a lot of material.

A wooded hill is a whole heap of dried grass stems in the form of twigs. In order for the density of the forest to be lush, you need to first sketch the background of these hills with green watercolors, then you don’t need to lay the green stems so densely.

You can make a picture of flowers and leaves where there is no watercolor - the entire picture, both the background of the sky and the background of the earth, is made of plant materials - as in the photo below. A simple DIY autumn craft.

You can choose colored cardboard as a canvas for a painting - for example of blue color as in the photo below. Then the blue cardboard itself will be a ready-made background for the sky and highlights on the water (as in the photo below).

When planning a leaf landscape painting, take care of the plans. Divide the picture into the third plan (horizon, sky, distant meadows) - background (hill, group of birch trees) - foreground (line of tall grasses and flowers).

A landscape painting of leaves looks very interesting if there is a PERSPECTIVE - an element that gradually decreases - goes into the distance. So in the craft below we see beds with flowering pumpkins or zucchini. The lines of the beds in the distance are a little thinner, and the flowers are a little smaller - than the same lines and flowers in the front of the picture.

Leaf paintings do not have to depict a landscape. It's just that landscape drawing is the easiest.

You can put together a whole still life from natural materials and scissors. The main thing is to first draw a sketch with a pencil. And then fill this sketch template like a mosaic with natural material. Using scissors, cut the leaves and stems into the shapes we need.

Do-it-yourself paintings from natural materials depicting insects look beautiful. Parts of herbs often resemble the legs or wings of an insect in their structure. Therefore, it is easy to find in nature elements similar in shape to parts of beetles, dragonflies, etc.

You can also create paintings depicting people or their things from dry leaves and herbs. Delicate canvases with ladies or girls in hats and dresses with delicate lace made of flower petals. You can twist a paper napkin into the silhouette of a lacy white umbrella and fill it with a scattering of press-dried flowers. Or you can use dried flower petals to make a girl’s dress and hat.

You can arm yourself with scissors and cut out clothes for the dancing couple - a dress and a tailcoat.

I also really like the works of the Ukrainian florist Tatyana Berdnik - she posts her works on the website Floristika. org. ua. We see her painting “Mom and Daughter” below. Tender fairy-tale pictures from a distant happy life - where everything is always good, where there are warm smiles and clear eyes, gentle hands and tender hearts. I highly recommend visiting this site - you will fall in love with these works and want to learn this magical art.

Ready salty dough should not stick to your hands or crumble. It should be cool and easy to sculpt. I recommend watching the video master class!

There are two most common ways to dry salt dough. The first method: the finished craft will dry on its own. The main thing is that straight lines do not fall on it Sun rays, otherwise it will crack. The craft can be placed on a flat surface and wait a few days. Second method: dry the finished craft in the oven for 3 to 6 hours (depending on the size of the craft). Drying occurs in batches with breaks. One approach is 1-2 hours. For quick drying in one go, set the oven to 75-100 degrees, and then the craft will dry in an hour. At a temperature of 120 degrees, the craft will dry in 30 minutes, but it is better to dry it naturally.

There are two most common ways to color salt dough. The first method: after drying, paint the finished craft with acrylic paints or gouache using a brush. Second method: food coloring is diluted in water, then added while preparing the dough. When the craft is completely painted and dried, it must be coated with transparent manicure or furniture varnish in 2-3 layers. Each layer must dry before applying the next. This way the craft will be preserved for a long time.

You will need: colored salt dough, stack, clear manicure polish, toothpick.

Salt dough is a soft, flexible and convenient material for making crafts. Children really enjoy modeling with dough, as it is much easier to work with than plasticine. Let's look at how to prepare it and what kind of salt dough crafts you can make with your child.

Dough recipes

Making salt dough for crafts is easy. There are several recipes for preparing the mixture. Let's take a look at a few. Try each one and choose the one that is most convenient for you. You just need to keep the proportions correctly.

1. 500 g flour premium must be mixed with 200 g of fine table salt. Then pour 200 ml of cold water into this mixture. Then you need to mix everything thoroughly. The material is ready, you can start making crafts on the theme "Autumn" from salt dough.

2. You need to pour a glass into the bowl fine salt and add half a glass hot water. Having dissolved the salt in the water, gradually add a glass of flour in small portions. Mix everything thoroughly so that no lumps form. Add a tablespoon at the end vegetable oil. When the mixture stops sticking to your hands, you need to put it in a bag and put it in a cool place for a couple of hours.

3. Add 500 g of flour to 200 ml of water and mix thoroughly. Then pour in 2 cups of PVA glue. After kneading, you will get a stable mass, from which crafts on the theme “Autumn” made from salt dough will be stored for a long time, they can be tinted and painted.

How to dry crafts?

After the craft is made, it needs to be dried. If you just leave it there room temperature, then it will not harden completely. There will be wet dough inside; over time, the product will become deformed and “float.” Yes, and you can’t paint such a craft.

In order for the product to become durable, it needs to be thoroughly dried throughout its entire thickness. To do this, you can use the oven. Drying time depends on the size of the “Autumn”-themed salt dough craft. If the dough is thin, then half an hour will be enough at a temperature of 100 degrees. If the product is thick and large, then you need to increase the time to an hour.

Salt dough hedgehog

To make such a hedgehog you will also need Pine cone, which will act as thorns. First, as in working with plasticine, you need to roll a round ball, from which the animal’s face is made by stretching. Roll a small piece into a ball and glue it to the place of the nose. The eyes are made by piercing holes with a sharp object. You can use a plasticine stack or just a pencil.

Then you need to roll out paws from four identical pieces. Assembling the hedgehog begins. The head clings to the bump from the front by pressing, and 4 paws from below. You can attach separately molded leaves or an apple to the hedgehog’s “thorns.”

Another hedgehog

This salt dough version of the hedgehog is the easiest. It can be done with three-year-old children. The animal's muzzle is pulled out from the rolled ball. The eyes and nose can be molded separately, or painted with black paint.

Hedgehog needles are made from small noodles, which are simply stuck into the upper part of the body. That's it, the hedgehog is ready!

Autumn vegetables

It is very easy to sculpt vegetables from salt dough. Before sculpting, you definitely need to have a conversation with your child, remember what vegetables he knows, where they grow, what color. Consider either the vegetables themselves or their image in the pictures.

It is also advisable to repeat what shape these vegetables are and how best to sculpt them. Then the sculpting process itself begins. Turnips and beets are molded from a large ball by pulling the tail-spine down the center. If you wish, you can mold the tops separately and attach them together in a bunch on the flat side.

Parsley root and carrots are sculpted using the “sausage” method, then one side of the product is made thinner. Several branches are inserted into the middle from above.

The tomato is also made from a round piece. You need to attach a tail in the center at the top. The cucumber is rolled out into a “sausage”, rounding the ends.

After drying, the vegetables are painted.

Mushrooms

You can make mushrooms from salt dough as an autumn craft. First, you need to consider with your child what shape they come in. There are regular ones with a round and even cap. These are boletus, boletus, honey mushrooms, and boletus. For older children, you can suggest trying to make chanterelles or a colorful fly agaric.

After the mushrooms are ready and thoroughly dried, they need to be painted. To make the mushrooms bright and shiny, ready product coated with acrylic varnish.

Painting of products

There are two ways to color salt dough. After sculpting and drying, the finished product is simply painted with acrylic paints or simple gouache. With kids preschool age this method is the best.

If you want to make interesting crafts for decorating your premises, you can buy food coloring and add it at the stage of kneading the dough. Then the color of the dough will be uniform, and the decor item will be bright.

It is easy to work with salt dough, since its structure is plastic and soft. Imagine and create for your own pleasure with the kids!

Autumn gives us a lot of materials for creativity. These include leaves of various colors, chestnuts, dried flowers, acorns, and a decorative miniature pumpkin.

But, before you start making souvenirs from them, you need to properly prepare them, namely dry them and, if necessary, coat them with varnish or paint.

If you make a craft from unprepared raw materials, it will be a short-lived product.

As soon as the material dries on its own, the souvenir will lose its shape and will have to be thrown away. And besides this, half-raw leaves can simply rot or become moldy.

So let's start by drying out our autumn finds.

Let's prepare the leaves for the herbarium as follows:

1 way:

Place them between the book sheets and place them back on the shelf, pressing them tightly with other books to the side. In about a week to a week and a half, the leaves will be suitable for crafts.

This method is the best because natural color the leaves do not change and then they do not break for a long time.

Method 2:

This method is good if you don’t have the strength to withstand a week and a half and want to get to work quickly. Place the sheet between two white sheets of paper and iron with an iron set to the lowest setting.

In this case, the yellow and red leaves retain their color, but the green ones may darken and become an ugly, brown shade.

We dry chestnuts, acorns and decorative pumpkins.

1 way:

Dry outdoors in the shade. It will be necessary to wait quite a long time before these materials acquire the dryness we need.

Sometimes this process takes a month. Especially it concerns decorative pumpkins, which make wonderful DIY autumn crafts.

You will see for yourself when the moment of readiness for the gifts of autumn comes. Acorns and chestnuts will become lighter, and the pumpkin will become like a rattle, as the cavity inside will dry out and shrink, and dry seeds will beat against the walls.

Method 2:

We use the oven for this. It needs to be set at a temperature of up to 60C and dried until tender, stirring occasionally.

The main thing is not to rush and do not put on high heat, as the fruits will simply cook and become completely unusable.

Drying dried flowers

There is only one way and it takes a long time. Flowers need to be strung on a thread threaded through the stems and hung in a dry place, with the flower stems facing down.

Drying in a book or with an iron will not work, as the shape will be lost and they will become flat. After the dried flowers are completely dry, they need to be covered with a layer of hairspray. It will give them the desired density and will not allow them to crumble at the slightest touch.

Well, now, let's move on to specific master classes and examples.

1. Panel of autumn leaves

We offer you a great idea for a DIY leaf panel. It’s not at all difficult to make, but the result is quite impressive.

It would be nice if you placed other autumn decorative elements next to the finished leaf painting. For example, pumpkins, spikelets and other things that suit the style. Then you will have a whole autumn ensemble.

What we need for work:

  1. 1. Dried maple leaves of yellow-red color.
  2. 2. Tree branch for the trunk
  3. 3. A square piece of plywood
  4. 4. Stain or dark varnish
  5. 5. Simple pencil
  6. 6. PVA glue
  7. 7. A bunch of dry spikelets
  8. 8. Wicker basket for pumpkins
  9. 9. Several Jack Be Little or Baby Boo pumpkins

If you don’t have such pumpkins, you can fill the basket with chestnuts and acorns. But on next year It wouldn’t hurt to grow them, as they look very colorful and festive. Of course, if you have a plot of land.

Look at the variety of varieties and how harmoniously they combine with each other:

Master class step by step:

1 step. Sand the board, paying special attention to the edges. They should be smooth.

Step 2. Cover it with stain or varnish, preferably with a brownish tint. Apply the coating in several layers, trying to make the board not a uniform color, but a slightly “spotty” one.

Step 3. Freehand draw a large maple leaf.

Step 4 Start gluing on the maple leaves. Start from the edges, gradually approaching the middle. The edges of the leaves should match the edges of the sketch as best as possible. The next row of leaves should overlap the previous one. Do not glue the ends, they must be “overhanging” to create a volume effect.

Step 5 Glue the selected twig in place of the stem.

Now hang it up autumn panel, created with your own hands, over a cabinet and place other decorative elements around it.

2. Topiary from herbarium and other autumn materials

Topiary is a decorative tree. In autumn, you can collect beautiful leaves and make such a wonderful and cozy decorative element.

Any leaves, dried flowers, acorns, spikelets will be used here. The main thing is to understand the essence and do it the right basis. And what to fill it with - your imagination will tell you.

What we need for work:

  1. 1. Ceramic pot of a dull color
  2. 2. A straight tree branch for the trunk
  3. 3. 1 ball made of foam rubber, polystyrene foam or special floral foam
  4. 4. Dry moss, sesame or a handful of beautiful pebbles, acorns, dry rowan
  5. 5. Glue gun
  6. 6. Dry plaster
  7. 7. Decorative elements: herbarium, dried flowers, rowan, acorns, etc.

Master class step by step:

1 step. Let's start with the basics. Take a foam ball and place it on a branch that will serve as your trunk. Then remove it and drop some glue from the gun into the hole formed. Reattach the ball and let it dry.

Step 2. Secure the trunk in the pot. To do this, drop a drop of glue onto the free edge of the branch and attach it to the base of the pot.

Then, dilute the plaster with water to the consistency of liquid sour cream and fill the container. Don't forget that you will still need to decorate everything on top with moss or acorns, so leave a gap of about 3-4 cm from the top.

Step 3. Now we insert leaves and dried flowers into the ball, sticking them with their stems inside. If you want to add acorns to the composition, then first place them on pieces of wire.

Step 4 Now all you have to do is decorate the top of the pot so that the plaster is not visible.

That's all. Using this simple scheme, you can make a wide variety of autumn crafts with your own hands, not only from leaves, but also from dry peas, nuts and so on. They will all look just great!

3. Roses from maple leaves

Looking at this elegant bouquet of roses, you wouldn’t even think that it was made from ordinary maple leaves!

But, nevertheless, it is so. You just need to learn how to fold them correctly and you will get a great basis for many ideas.

Such roses can be included in various autumn topiaries, wreaths, compositions and panels. They look great in combination with any natural materials.

Well, let's get down to business.

What we need for work:

  1. 1. Maple leaves are not dried
  2. 2. Thread or soft wire
  3. 3. Matte hairspray

Master class step by step:

1 step. We form the middle of the bud. To do this, fold the sheet as shown in the pictures below. Try to twist it as tightly and evenly as possible. First in half and then into sausage.

As a result, we should have something like this:

Step 2. Now take the second sheet, fold it in half again and wrap it around the base.

The sharp edges of the maple leaves should be carefully hidden inside, like this:

Step 3. We continue to build up the mass around the base, adding more and more leaves. If you want to end up with a bud, then twist it more tightly, and ate more lush rose, then loosen the twist a little.

Step 4 When you see that a real rose has “bloomed” in your hands, you need to secure it with threads as tightly as possible.

Step 5 We trim the edges with scissors and place the rose on a lining of leaves, preferably already dry. We cover the composition with varnish and admire it!

These leaf roses last quite a long time, definitely enough for the entire autumn season. You can make as many of these flowers as you like. The more there are, the more chic this autumn composition, reminiscent of a fabric motif, looks.

4. Compositions of decorative pumpkins

Even if you do not grow this vegetable on your own plot, in the autumn you can freely buy them at the market and then dry them yourself. We have already told you how to do this above, so let’s not waste time talking.

Let's get creative!

There will be no master classes in this block, we will simply show you examples of such decor, and how to make them is already quite clear from the photo.

Of course, there are more complex techniques, for example, carving or painting on dry lagenaria, but this is a broad topic and worthy of a separate article. Here we will consider only the simplest compositions that even a schoolchild can do.

Option 1. Basket with a scattering of pumpkins. It couldn’t be simpler, and the view is spectacular!

Option 2. Candlesticks made from mini pumpkins. To do this, you need to cut a hole with a knife of such a size that you can place a foil-based candle in it.

Or this option:

Incredibly simple, right?

Option 3. Pumpkin door wreath. Take any circle as a basis, for example, an embroidery hoop, and attach mini-pumpkins to it.

Pierce the tails with wire and screw it to the base, circle. Use berries, acorns, twigs and autumn leaves as additional decorative elements.

It will look something like this:

5. Chestnut topiary

To create this spectacular autumn craft with your own hands, we will need the same materials for the base as for creating a decorative tree from the herbarium. And for decoration you just need other elements.

For work we will need:

1. Ceramic pot
2. Styrofoam ball
3. Dry plaster
4. Glue gun
5. Tree branch for the trunk
6. Cones, chestnuts, acorns
7. Harsh thread or twine for forming decorative balls

Master class step by step:

  1. 1. We form the base of the tree in the same way as in the case of topiary from leaves.
  2. 2. Secure the base in the pot using glue and plaster
  3. 3. Apply drops of hot glue to chestnuts, acorns and other elements and attach them in a chaotic manner to the foam crown ball.
  4. 4. Wreath on the door made of chestnuts

Such a wreath of chestnuts on the front door will cheer up not only you, but also passers-by. It's very easy to make. Follow all the steps given to make a pumpkin wreath.

Find some kind of dense base, then pierce the chestnuts and other elements through the back side, insert the wire, form a hook and use it to screw them to the circle.

Complete the chestnut composition with leaves, acorns, berries and other autumn decorative elements provided by this fertile time of year.

6. Autumn garland “Leaves” made from salt dough

This is a very impressive DIY autumn craft. The big advantage of such a garland is that it is not seasonal and will decorate your home for many years.

After all, it is made not from natural materials, but from salted dough, which does not deteriorate for years. The only thing is that such products are fragile and you need to handle them carefully so as not to break them. But, even if this happened, they can always be glued together, and the joint will not be noticeable.

What we need for work:

1. 2 cups flour
2. 1 glass of salt
3. 0.5 cups of water
4. Gouache
5. Sewing pins with hook eye
6. Twine
7. Oven
8. White landscape paper, pencil

Master class step by step:

1 step. Draw leaf patterns on a landscape sheet various types, but about the same size. Let's cut them out.

Step 2. Knead a stiff dough from flour, salt and water. If the dough turns out to be unplastic, you can add liquid drop by drop. Knead the resulting material thoroughly and roll it out on a board. The layer should be approximately 5 -7 millimeters.

Step 3. Place the templates on the rolled out dough and cut them along the contours with a knife.

As a result, we should have approximately this many blanks.

Step 4 We make holes with pins and carefully secure the heads. We will hang our leaves on them. Use a knife to squeeze out the veins.

Step 5 Dry the dough in the oven at 50-60C until completely dry.

Step 6 We paint the dough pieces with gouache, trying to create natural tones and transitions.

Step 7 We string the garland onto a twine, making a knot over each leaf so that they do not move.

So our DIY autumn craft is ready. You can hang it anywhere, it will be in place in any corner of the house, especially if you have some other decorative elements in the autumn style.

7. Vases and houses made from ordinary pumpkin

Autumn is the time for pumpkins to ripen. It costs mere pennies and can be found beautiful shape and coloring is not difficult.

And making an element of autumn decor based on it is as easy as shelling pears! There's no need for any step-by-step technologies and accessories.

The only thing you need: pumpkins, a knife for carving, a tablespoon to pick out the pulp and flowers with which you will fill these colorful vases.

Look at our selection of photos of pumpkin vases. It looks very decent and autumn-like.

As you already understood, you just need to cut off the top and clean out the core of the vegetable. Then fill the container with water.

Or you can make pumpkin houses. To do this, you just need to cut holes in the right places. You can see exactly where they are located in the picture below. Kids love these things!

8. Wreath on the door made of natural materials

We have already given above an example of wreaths made of pumpkins and chestnuts. You already know how to make them. Here we simply present a selection of the most effective, in our opinion, ideas.

9. Acorn frame for a photo or mirror

Decorating any base in this way is very simple. We think no explanation is needed here.

The only thing we can advise is that you should not glue acorns with a glue gun or PVA. It's much better if you use plasticine.

Because, most likely, you will soon get tired of this decor and will have to throw it away. And so, you can always dismantle the acorns and get a regular photo frame back for use.

This is what it will look like.

On the photo frame there are whole acorns, and on the mirror there are only caps. This way you can create a variety of autumn crafts with your own hands and decorate any surface: boxes, bread bins, etc.

10. A bunch of grapes made from acorns

This autumn craft will look the best way, if you paint the “berries” in natural colors, and instead of grape leaves add a herbarium of maple leaves of various colors.

Also, bunch of grapes made of acorns is a wonderful element of any autumn wreath on the door or large topiary. After all, it can be made not only tabletop, but also human-sized!

But instead of a foam ball, you need to take a large plastic one. Making grapes from acorns is very simple, we will now tell you exactly how.

What we need for work:

1. Acorns without caps
2. Shilo
3. Wire
3. Glue gun
4. Acrylic paint
5. Autumn leaves for decoration

Master class step by step:

1 step. We poke holes in the base of the acorn with an awl.

Step 2. We break or cut the wire into pieces 7-10 cm long.

Step 3. Dip the ends of the wire into a drop of glue from the gun and insert it into the punctured holes.

Step 4 We paint the acorns any color you want. The main thing is that it is combined with leaves that will complement the composition.

Step 5 We collect acorns in a cluster, forming a wire rod on top. Then we attach leaves to it.

Now you can make any decoration based on this autumn craft. Panel, wreath, etc.

11. Autumn crafts from felt

Working with this fabric is a pleasure! The material does not crumble and holds its shape perfectly. This means that any beginner can make an autumn craft from felt with their own hands and it will turn out no worse than the products of experienced craftswomen.

We offer you a selection of the best and simple decors in autumn style, and you can choose any of them! They are so simple that there is no need to describe their step-by-step technology in detail.

As you can see, based on felt leaves, you can make both a wreath and a garland, like the one we already made from salt dough. Here are a couple more options for DIY fall wreaths.

All you need is to draw the templates, cut out the felt and design it according to our photos.

12. Garlic and red pepper braid

How cozy it is when bundles of garlic, onions, and red peppers hang in the kitchen! But if you hang them in fresh, they will very soon lose their appearance or simply run out because they will be eaten.

Let's do something like this, but for centuries! Now we will look at how garlic and pepper are made, from which we will form a nice braid for the kitchen.

For work we will need:

1. White nylon tights or a plastic bag (for the garlic base)
2. Cotton wool or padding polyester (for filling)
3. White coarse thread (for dressing and forming lobules)
4. Glue gun
5. Buckwheat or twine (to imitate garlic roots)
6. Fabric for sewing peppers or salted dough for sculpting them

Master class step by step:

1 step. We form the body of the garlic. To do this, we need to cut into squares either nylon tights or simple plastic bags. Garlic made from nylon looks, of course, more realistic.

But even from the packages it looks good. But the main thing is that this material is always at hand. So, cut out a square, approximately 7 by 7 cm in diameter.

Step 2. We roll a ball out of cotton wool or padding polyester, put it inside a piece of nylon and form a head of garlic. It looks like the one shown in the photo.

Step 3. Then we begin to tie a harsh thread around the head, forming cloves of garlic. First we divide it in half, then into quarters, then into 8 parts.

Look at the photo, the process is clearly shown there.

Step 4 In the place where the roots of real garlic are located, drop a drop of glue and sprinkle this place with crushed buckwheat. If you want, you can replace it with twine, which needs to be unraveled and finely chopped.

Step 5 We make a braid from twine and attach the resulting garlic cloves to it.

Step 6 Now it's time to deal with the pepper. You can sew it, but peppers made from salt dough look much better.

We have already given the recipe for the batch, in the subsection “Garlands of autumn leaves.” These are the peppercorns you should end up with.

Step 7 We make holes in the tails of the peppercorns (we will then thread twine through them and use it to secure them to the braid with garlic). You can do this with an awl or any available item.

The main thing is to make them large enough so that you can thread the thread freely later. Otherwise, after drying, you will not be able to attach the finished product to the composition in any way.

And one more thing: if you make a hole, make sure that the edges of the leg remain more or less large. Otherwise, after you thread the thread, the thin walls may crack and the pepper will fall to the floor.

Step 8 We dry them in the oven, paint them with acrylic paint, and once dry, coat them with varnish. When the pepper shines, it looks more natural.

Dry at a low temperature, do not rush, otherwise your work may burst and you will have to sculpt everything again. You can't paint a cracked pepper the way you would like.

9. Attach the pepper to the garlic and hang this autumn composition in the kitchen. You can make several such bundles. You can make carrots from salt dough, and a bunch of onions from brown tights.

The principle of making bulbs is the same as garlic, only even simpler. There is no need to form slices.

Also, a bunch of mushrooms on the wall will look great, which you can also sculpt from dough and paint realistically.

Our big review has come to an end. You have seen many examples and any kind of autumn crafts with your own hands. We really hope that our master classes will be useful to you and that you will definitely take something into account.
