HOW TO PREPARE DONGEL COMPOTE

In order to close the dogwood compote for the winter, we first need to purchase berries. Choose ripe but not overripe ones. It is better to take sweet and sour apples or sweet ones with dense pulp.

Pour the purchased dogwood into a colander and wash under running water. Leave the berries to dry.

We thoroughly wash the apples and cut them into 4 or 8 pieces as desired, removing the core.

To better guarantee the safety of the dogwood compote, we sterilize the jars in a way convenient for you (I do this over steam for 5-7 minutes). Pour the apples cut into slices into the prepared jar. On liter jar I took a couple of medium-sized apples. Cover with a special lid with holes (if there is none, cover with a sterile tin).

Give 15-20 minutes for the apples to steam. After that, pour the water from the jar into a ladle (saucepan) and add granulated sugar here, based on your own taste, but do not forget that dogwood is basically a sour berry and it is better to give a little more sugar.

Cook the syrup until the sugar is completely dissolved.

While the liquid is boiling, add a handful of dogwood to the jar of apples.

Then fill the jar to the brim with boiling syrup. And since we will have dogwood compote without sterilization, we immediately roll up the lid. Turn the jar over, wrap it up and leave until completely cooled until the next day.

To prepare apple and dogwood compote for the winter, we will need a 3 liter jar following ingredients:

  • apples - 5 pcs.;
  • dogwood - 250 gr.;
  • sugar - 500 gr.;
  • water - 2.5 l.

Preparation:

It is best to take apples that are firm, but not sour. Otherwise, you will need to add even more sugar. Each apple should be washed, the tail removed and dried.

We do not peel the peel. You can take a regular knife and cut the apples into thin slices. Or you can take a newer device that is specifically designed for cutting apples into slices. In both methods, it is necessary to remove the seed box, that is, the core.

The jar should be washed and preferably with soda. And only then rinse with plenty of water. And leave to dry. As soon as the jar becomes dry, put our apples on the bottom.

Wash the dogwood, remove the stalks, and also remove excess moisture with paper towels. Pour them into a jar of apples.

Place a pan of water on the fire. As soon as the water boils, pour it into a jar that already contains apples and dogwoods. Leave on the counter until completely cool.

Our glass container has cooled down, which means we close the jar with a plastic lid and pour all the liquid back into the pan through a special hole. If there is no such cover, then it’s okay. This can be done without it. Place the pan on the fire and add sugar. And once it has dissolved, you can taste the syrup and decide for yourself whether it’s worth adding more sugar or whether it’s enough. After all, everyone has different tastes and some like a sour compote, while others prefer a sweet compote.

The syrup should be boiled for 10 minutes and then poured into a jar. We take a seamer, cover the jar with a lid and close the dogwood and apple compote for the winter.

Almost everything is ready. All that remains is to turn the jar over, place it on the floor, and then cover it with several blankets. You will have to wait 2 days until the jar has completely cooled down and can be stored in the pantry. And in winter, this compote will quench your thirst and boost your immunity.
