- 400 grams of rice (Basmati is best);
- 1 kg chicken drumsticks;
- 4 cloves of garlic;
- 3 cinnamon sticks;
- 2 onions;
- 400 grams of canned tomatoes;
- ground black pepper;
- ginger;
- cumin;
- turmeric;
- red hot peppers;
- salt.
Rinse the rice, cover it with cold water and leave for 30 minutes. Clean the meat from the drumsticks and cut it into cubes. Pour vegetable oil into a heated frying pan and fry the meat in batches until golden brown. Place it on a plate and fry the onion in the same vegetable oil, adding turmeric, garlic, ginger, cumin, two cinnamon sticks, pepper and salt. Add to pan canned tomatoes and meat. Bring the mixture to a boil and then turn off the heat. Remove the cinnamon sticks.

  • has a dark brown color;

  • has a delicate sweetish taste;
  • crumbles easily;
  • resembles a folded piece of paper.

False cinnamon (cassia):

  • grows in China, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia;
  • has a reddish-brown tint;
  • has a bright aroma;
  • has a sweetish-spicy, tart and slightly hot taste;
  • difficult to break;
  • resembles a dense and thick scroll.

Differences in Chemical Composition

Cassia contains starch and coumarin - 2 g per 1 kg. This is a lot and can negatively affect the liver, so it is recommended to eat in small portions. If you remember, cinnamon originally appeared on our shelves as a baking spice. In such quantities she gave spicy taste and did not affect the body. But for health purposes, the dosage is significantly higher - not a pinch, and therefore cassia cannot be used either for treatment or for weight loss.

Is it harmful in itself? No. Even if it is called false, it is a spice to create nuances of taste, and not to be a complete food. Therefore, feel free to use cassia in main dishes, but for weight loss, use Ceylon cinnamon.

Real cinnamon contains many times less starch and coumarin – 0.02/kg. It is safe for health and suitable for us when we need to add a teaspoon of powder to a drink.

What to use: sticks or powder

We add powder directly to the drink or medicinal solution itself, but it’s better to buy sticks. This way you will be absolutely sure that the cinnamon is of high quality, real and without impurities. Another thing is that it is extremely difficult to implement. But if you succeed, it is better to order whole sticks.

Another important point in favor of straws is that ground cinnamon can be stored for no longer than 6 months. It is during this period useful material the spices are lost. The most important property cinnamon, what I personally like most and why I recommend everyone keep a few cinnamon sticks on the kitchen shelf is its ability to lower blood glucose.

It is for this purpose that cinnamon is primarily useful for all diabetics, but I will not risk advising how to take cinnamon for diabetes; after all, an individual approach and the doctor’s instructions are important here.

But since excess weight is one of the risk factors for diabetes, excess fat and poor nutrition often change blood sugar levels, which makes losing weight even more difficult in the future. And why not add a little cinnamon to your tea or healthy dish? Believe me, this is a real salvation.
